Description


"Welcome to the latest test version of Konkornaut, a submarine project that both respects and complements vanilla Barotrauma while introducing innovative and lively gameplay aboard the vessel. Designed for balance throughout the entire campaign, it empowers both crew and captain with a variety of tools, compatible with both multiplayer and solo play."





Project Philosophy:
"This submarine reflects my philosophy on enjoying Barotrauma by enriching onboard activities and management. While it diverges from the original gameplay to offer a fresh and immersive experience, it stays true to the game's essence by enhancing and expanding upon its core mechanics. The focus is on accessibility and intuitiveness, providing a complex yet dynamically evolving vessel."

    • Dynamic Crisis Management:
    • Optimized bot pathing allows for engaging scenarios—including monster boardings, dynamic combat, and evolving crisis situations.


    • Innovative Systems:
    • Toggleable Deceleration Bypass: Bypass submarine deceleration and invert X and Y velocity, offering new maneuvering capabilities and increased agility.
    • Airlock Flush Mechanism: Forcefully flush anything out of the airlock—items, corpses, crewmates—adding a unique tactical option.
    • Unique Flooding Mechanics: A single-room design introduces unique flooding behaviors, leading to dynamic crisis management.
    • Levitation Between Rooms: Move between rooms effortlessly, enhancing bot and enemy reactivity (though occasional falling damage may occur).


    • Enhanced Interaction:
    • Detailed Labels and Explanations: Every interactable features detailed labels to understand functionalities and synergies.
    • Toggleable Ballast Rooms: Ballast sections can be converted into extra rooms, initially intended for gardening.
    • Electrical Hazard Mechanics: Junction boxes can discharge electricity under certain conditions, adding minor threats during emergencies.


    • Pseudo A.I. Assistance:
    • A guiding A.I. informs you about the submarine's current state (currently being reworked for greater engagement).


    • Focus on Management:
    • Life Support Automation: Emphasizes maintaining the A.I. for automation and life support systems.
    • Micromanagement Elements: Tasks like keeping the main battery above 50% highlight the importance of resource management and efficiency for survival.
    • And much more features and synergies, excluding future systems as those will also be numerous.



Development and Future Plans:
"Despite being my first submarine design, Konkornaut has transformed over the past three years with numerous updates. I plan to complete and upload the next stable version to the workshop. After its release, I'll assess my motivation to continue. If I proceed, my focus will be on finding creative solutions to enhance the project's whimsical aspects while staying true to its original nature."

I am trying to be as transparent as possible about its development so you can freely explore the latest changes and additions, keeping in mind that it may not always be playable. This submarine isn't for everyone but offers something different for those seeking a balanced yet innovative experience in vanilla Barotrauma.

A painful truth, might as well do just that. BUT! At least with a BANG with the automated power distribution I'm cooking!

So I'll at least wait for game's next major update, for the release of the "Power Distributor" which is still only accessible on unstable.

Worry not it's already planned. It's just that I have a lot to work on in its current state. I'll make a proper stable version at some point.

From this point on in this submarine development, performance will only decrease until further optimization of newly implemented systems and diverse improvements.
I'll focus on meaningful implementations rather than the usual slow process of continuous optimizations.

We've pass the 5600 items threshold. And even if I optimize logics it won't get bellow 5450.

This is seriously getting boring, I want to tap into the big ideas and QoL enhancement after further accommodations to old systems to support upcoming changes, A.S.A.P.

Alright, I'm back in the game with the promised Airlock fix and much more to come.

I've pinpointed the issue, thanks @kratos who hinted it, but I'm postponing any change until I found the right alternative as it revolve directly with the very tangible "Airlock Flusher" which use doors physics to push bodies outside the submarine—it needs to be fine tuned to work properly.

As of the latest game update, this sub is known to not flood correctly around the Airlock, not game breaking but annoying. I still don't know what is provoking this, whether its a bug or change in the game mechanics. I don't know if it'll be patched or specific to this sub that contains items pasted since early access that could've been corrupted last update. Anyway, I'll look into this at a later date, I'm pausing this sub development for a while to wise up about what to do with it.
