Description
The Quaesitor
A small grid expeditionary craft designed for survival players

The MMC-2A (Medium Multi-environment Craft) Quaesitor is a versatile expeditionary transport capable of extended duration missions. It features H2 and atmospheric propulsion, pressurized cabin, crew life-support and redundant power systems. A programmable block provides Whip's artificial horizon script for improved navigation.

The primary role of the Quaesitor is prospecting asteroids and planetary bodies for suitable locations for future bases. Even with its limited cargo capacity, the MMC-2A can carry enough components to set-up small outposts or forward operating bases, preparing the ground for dedicated cargo vessels.

This craft incorporates several advanced features:
  • Automatic systems and power management when operating with a mothership/base
  • Hybernation when using the ship's cryopod.
  • Semi-automatic orbital insertion.
  • Radar warning receiver (RWR). Alerts of enemy grids nearby and when locked-on.

Specifications
Power plant:
  • 4 large and 32 small H2 thrusters
  • 12 large and 2 small flat atmospheric thrusters
  • 4 Large batteries
Weapons:
  • 2 Gatling guns.
  • 1 Gatling turret
Subsystems:
  • Large connector (Toolbar shortcut #8). Automatic Charge/Discharge of batteries when docked
  • RWR system with visual and aural alerts
  • Semi-automatic orbital insertion
  • Cryopod. Automatic hybernation when in-use (Caution! Entering will disable the controls!)
  • Automatic airlock
  • Repair projector
  • O2/H2 generator
  • H2 engine
  • H2 and O2 tanks
  • 2 Medium cargo containers
  • Survival kit
  • 8 Gyroscopes
  • And many more...
Empty mass:                  78020kg
MTOW*:                      270000kg
MTOW to orbit*:         190000kg
TWR(empty)*:                   3.59
Total PCU:                          5298
Total Blocks:                      1266

*H2+atmo propulsion @1atm, 1g (Earthlike)

For orbital insertion:
  1. Stabilize the craft level with the horizon
  2. Go to toolbar 3
  3. Engange the 'Ascent control' event controller (press 9).
  4. Override thrust of the 'Ascent engines' group (press 7 until max. override). Ensure group is enabled.
  5. Wait until planetary gravity falls below 0.06g, then disable the 'Ascent control' and thrust override (press 6 until no override). You may want to also disable intertial dampeners.
  6. Check that 'Ascent engines' group is enabled. Adjust craft velocity as needed once outside the gravity well.

Fully vanilla and survival-ready. No DLC.

Fighters in the pictures are prototype LAC-9s.

Enjoy!

I hope you do! Modular ships are amazing to me

@Jynx The Cat That ship is a project for a modular mobile base. It's development is halted at this time, but I may retake it at some point

Loving this ship! I'm curious what the main craft is in one of the other pictures. looks like it's an Orange one for sure

@redix_244 Yes, in fact that's the whole purpose of this ship: go planetside, explore, then back to space. You'll need to find some ice first to fuel up, but you can do the space-surface-space trip several times on a full tank of H2 in this ship.
Also, by orbital insertion I just mean outside gravity wells, as you can't actually achieve orbit in SE. But you probably already knew that.

wdym orbital insertion? can i build it on earth like and be able to get to space and be in space ?

@X_SquadGaming It is the name I gave to the event controller that acts as autopilot for reaching space. The 'autopilot' is very bare-bones though...

what is the ascent control?

Hi, I've never modded a respawn ship in, but you can try this guide: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=406748833&searchtext=respawn+ships .
There may even be a guide on youtube you can look for, hope this helps!

How can I get this to replace the spawn shop/drop pod?

I appreciate the feedback. The fans are there to increase endurance in planets with atmosphere, since this is a survival oriented ship. I tried to integrate them as much as possible in the exterior hull. It could be fun to convert It to a space-only version though...
