Dust II
Vulcan DLC is REQUIRED! (Had to use some assets from there)

WarOwl's 2nd Law of FPS. If you can build a custom map, there IS a Dust2.

And so with that, i present you Dust2 In Viscera Cleanup Detail! (I'm actually surprised nobody made this in a way i did, i saw a one but it wasn't in this style)

It's actually my first time i'm mapping in UDK, in my opinion for a beginner i did pretty good job for a person coming from GoldSRC & Source engine.

I've went for CS 1.6 layout and a bit of CS2's (Car spot for example) and also a bit of my ideas

Originally i wanted to make cs_assault but it was a bit challenging for me.


- Why didn't you make the whole map?

I've only made A Site since making entire map would be difficult to me (and difficult to clean as well) Basically it's like de_dust2_long (if you ever played it you already know what i'm yapping about)

I've made the map in a week but published like a week later because i was a bit busy, it took like 3-4 days to learn some UDK (i just couldn't get used to editor)

I only tested singleplayer, let me know if there is any problem with map, i'll try to fix it asap.

Huge thanks to "A JANITOR" for helping me optimize the map.

Anyone experiencing a bug after recent updates:

Check the steam workshop icon in your main menu if it says unknown in red txt next to dust 2, quit the game and unsub from the map then restart your game twice so it will delete old update, then sub to the map again.

Sidenote: The paper in spawn counts as "Debris" so don't forget to get rid of it.

A few needed crates are missing in the stacking areas. You cannot have 100% crates. Either add the missing ones or include those intended currently in the map in the valid archetypes.

Yes! it was an reference to Counter Strike's Bomb Code but now that you mention it, maybe i can actually turn that into a secret room with the code.

only problem is...the code on the wall confused the heck outta me. there was no place to input it. was there some sorta secret that i'm unaware of? :dpfrogo:

that fix mod installer jammed forever bug as everything in installed mods list needs green ready txt next to it oherwise the game fails to install map updates

so check ya installed mods list n make sure its all green txt n ya good to go

i not played yet i can tell from the nice screenshots i play it in the morning it almost midnight now
if ya got blocking volumes thats good maybe 1 more as a sky to cap it off vs stuff that say 2 buckets get stuck together n go flying it keep it in n drop somewhere n with all volumes make sure ya rebuild the geometry in the build thing or just build all after ya resize the volumes in geometry mode otherwise it still old shape of volume esp with stacking and nosplat volumes
nosplat volumes just shoot it with the welder=no stains means its working:)
making outdoor maps is a cow in this game to stop stains n trash going out n landcsape mode is broken the collision is borked so i just use terrain or static meshes for the ground

thankyou slowly getting better the last few weeks been a bug from hell along with the insomnia n yeah take ya time with the polishing cloth
since most of ya crates n barrels are vulcan ones just copy the stacking areas and the decals from the vulcan map
for each crate/barrel look at the required archetypes list in the stacking volume click the padlock to lock the volume click a crate look at its properties copy the debris template txt n paste that in the stacking volume list to match the object archetype of each type of crate etc then select all of ya crates in the map and thats the required count while ya remove the dev archetypes from the list n replace em with yours n the penalty offset is at like 300 or something if change that to 3000 it give more points if you stack everything but normal points if partialy filled
the dev guide will help with stacking volumes it's really easy once ya done it a few times

I did put blocking volumes over the walls don't worry about that :) Dunno if it's bug-proof enough though, needs further testing.

And yes, i'll be doing those, i kinda expected what you said to happen about welder gun soots but didn't know there was nosplat volume so i'll be looking into that

I also did not get what is "stacking areas" are those the decals that says "barrels" and other stuff in various colors? I thought the debris acted as a prop in maps so i did not pay attention to that, will check that one as well

As for the ambient sounds i did think about it but i didn't know how to do and i was busy with irl stuff so i rushed the map

shoot the walls with the welder on purpose n spread fire everywhere=put soot all over the perimeter walls with the welder then ghost over the wall n see if soot stains on the outside of the walls(you can't mop em from the inside)=i bet there are=put nosplat volumes touching the outside of the walls all around the perimeter to stop stains going over the top of the walls outside the walls (unrefinery has same problem on the ceiling) n if ya can toss stuff over the walls put blocking volumes round the perimeter to stop trash going out of bounds as the 2 hardest things to control when making an outdoor level (lol frostbite still buggy in that department)
just a few tips to janitor proof ya map so the janitor can't bug it out n it should be pretty solid:cryptothink:
