Description
What is this?
This mod disables characters that arent in your community from having unlimited ammo. Whenever an ammo weapon spawns on a character, a certain amount of ammo will spawn with it.

You can configure the amounts, as well as the conditions for which to spawn ammo. For characters who have an ammo weapon but no melee weapon, it will spawn one for them (since they will run out of ammo at some point)

Doesn't affect characters in the player community, since they can't have unlimited ammo.

You can also set whether explosives are unlimited or not, and set the chances for them to spawn on characters.

Can be added to current saves.

Settings
  • UnlimitedAmmo. Whether ammo is unlimited or not. (default false)
  • UnlimitedExplosives. Whether explosives are unlimited or not. (default false)
  • MaxExplosives. Maximum amount of explosives that a character can spawn with. (default 3)
  • ChanceSpawnExplosiveOnCharacter. Chance for a character to spawn with explosives. (default 0.4)
  • SpawnAmmoOnWeaponSpawned. Whether to spawn ammo on spawned characters who have ammo weapons. (default true)
  • MinAmmoOnSpawn. Minimum amount of ammo to spawn for an ammo weapon inside a character's inventory. Only if "SpawnAmmoOnWeaponSpawned" enabled. (default 30)
  • MaxAmmoOnSpawn. Maximum amount of ammo to spawn for an ammo weapon inside a character's inventory (default 60)
  • SpawnAmmoOnlyIfNone. Will only spawn ammo if character has none in its inventory. (default true)
  • SpawnAmmoOnlyIfNoneThreshold. Amount of ammo a character needs to have so that no additonal ammo will spawn. (default 10)
  • SpawnAmmoOnGameLoaded. Whether to spawn ammo on characters with ammo weapons, when the game loads. (default false)
  • MinAmmoOnLoad. Minimum amount of ammo to add for an ammo weapon in a character's inventory, whenever the game loads. Only if "SpawnAmmoOnGameLoaded" enabled. (default 10)
  • MaxAmmoOnLoad. Maximum amount of ammo to add for an ammo weapon in a character's inventory, whenever the game loads. Only if "SpawnAmmoOnGameLoaded" enabled. (default 30)

Could need some balancing.

So, I play Story mode, i activated the mod when i started a New Game, so all NPC´s affected? What if I´m activating the Mod later, do only new spawned NPC´s affected with No unlimited Ammo? Because friendly NPC´s will run out of Ammo and can´t defend themself against Raiders, or FEMA Patrol runs out of Ammo and can´t kill the Green Hordes or at the beginning.

So do NPCs restock ammo when they run out if they are near a source? I dont see that confirmed as a feature just discussed in old comments.

Fixed two bugs, added setting for unlimited molotovs, spawn chance and amount.

I'd say towers would be good buildings to restock with ammo, but still, I doubt even toons sitting in these towers will pick it up.

If you can pull this out somehow, it would be awesome, but I have seen communities drop dead from zombie sieges because they ran out of ammo and were not restocking from nearby buildings. When I have visited their defeated camps, I found hundreds of arrows and pistol ammo inside the buildings.

W/o AI routine to go for restock to a nearby building added by Bob, spawning ammo on game load seems like a best temporary solution.

It would be a good idea to create exceptions for characters that have unique IDs, as they may be involved in story and generated quests that require them to have ammo.

For example, at the start of the story the FEMA patrol needs to take out the white strain from the start, and if they run out of ammo, the event stalls there.

thats a good question. BOB should just implement some mechanics for settlements to work their own ammo stock. but sadly hes just working on some bullshit relationship mechanics that make my own people fight each other every few days. most settlements arent able keep their farming and cooking going after neccessary people died. the rest of the survivers wont continue their work so the whole colony will just die due starvation earlier or later anyway.
so the question about the ammo working question is a pointless question atm.
im using your mod in my actual playthrough and i saw this all happening.

i think BOB lost his view about the importance of some things after his 4y long developement and keeps working on pointless things instead that doesnt really improve the quality of this game.

Or settlements restocking ammo every couple of days?
