Description
CV Class 3, Core 4, Unlock Level 20 - Reforged Eden 2 Only

Primary roles: Entry Level Combat CV, Utility, Landing pad, Warp, Shield, Upgradable

Update 6/17/2024 - Do to the part requirements, I removed two rocket thrusters from the rear of the ship and replaced with grates. I was using them as place holders for more thrusters but they require a special part I didn't want to be needed in the build. I also replaced the stat screen shots with new ones after this change.

Lore

The Skaar-Ridge Rat is a decommissioned light transport ship found at the Ridge Basin salvage yard. It got it's name being found on a ridge with a large rat population. In fact there was so many rats around the area the Skaar welders working on the ship started a popular fast food franchise "Rat and go!" to rival Ripper Dogs, the only Skaar fast food franchise at the time. Despite the rats, the ship showed its worth doing many hit and run pirate ops as a low cost solution to the standard Raider line. "She's got the Rat juice for sure!" said Slim Smuggy, a renown pirate commander in the Skaar ranks. Since then every pirate and their brother want's there own Ridge Rat and bunch more are being built.

Stock Features

The Ridge Rat comes stock with a standard shield, standard warp drive, full med bay, 2x240K ammo bays, 1x200K harvest bay, 4 cargo boxes, fridge and food processor, left over spicy rat jerky, 2 passenger seats, armor locker, weapon locker, armor repair, landing pad, gravity generator, wifi, and detector.

Upgrade optons

The ship has locations to add 1x improved, 2x advanced, 2x superior CPU cores, teleporter, 8x small shield parts, 4x medium shield parts, 1x3 generator, 1x addition constructor/deconstructor, long range radar, 11x turret mount positions, and 10x weapon launcher positions.

Offense and defense

The hull is built with steel and some hardened steel in select areas. The front of the ship has a few layers of protection with a blow out room designed to add additional armor or decoys. The interior is built with carbon substrate and cargo extensions. The ship does not come with any weapons stock but has 11 turret mount locations, and 10 launcher mount locations.

@McAnders It works for me. Just the LCD labels not representing the actual names in RE2. The LCD says "Small Shield" while the actual item in RE2 is called "Large Shield Boosters (Basic)" with size 2,1,1. For LCD saying "Large Shield" I can place the "Large Shield Boosters (Improved)" with size 3,2,2.

I have a hard time extending the Shield capacity? it seems the spots for extending are vanilla stuff size?

Is this by chance under change? I spawned it in to creative and it has no thrusters, weapons, etc. Seems to be just a shell. Just curious. Thanks!

My review of this ship

Pros:
Excellent maneuverability for a CV.
Well-designed, aesthetically pleasing exterior and interior.
Strong initial combat capability with decent weaponry.
Cons:
Feels fragile in battle, lacking durability and heavy armor.
Insufficient storage space, limiting its use for resource gathering or exploration.
Low endurance in combat – prolonged engagements could spell trouble.
Seems to be more of a personal design project rather than a functional, all-purpose ship.'


Overall it feels like the ship was made in a dirty china factory using child labor, with all due respect.

Really liked using this ship! It took me from no combat CV to starting fights in drone space, unfortunately it was there I learned that losing a rear thruster chains the warp drive and essentially whole ship. Now if you are good enough to never got shot in the back its not a problem, but for me I think it could use some design change in that area. Still fantastic looking and quite good performance!

It has no CPUs if you are running your game with CPU requirements, this will not fly.

Having had some experience with this in survival for the past few days - it needed wifi transmitters in the nose and tail - as it is I couldn't go very far past the rather long nose of the ship, and I had to add spotlights. If I had to recommend that something actually be changed it would be those two things.

Thank you Powermonkey and antievergreen! @antievergreen, That is a strange issue. Are you using it in the Reforged Eden 2 Beta scenerio? If you are not, I would expect some issues like this. It may be missing a generator or other parts as well as a non functional CPU setup. It was made specifically for RE2. If it is not that, all I can think of is restart the game? If using in vanilla or RE1, I think I would check it out in creative and make sure the CPU checks out, has generators, thrusters, well, make sure it works. I hope that helps. And thanks again all!

i cant get it off the ground for some reason. i spawn in this one in creative just to test it and the small one and they simply wont move, they turn on, everything funtions, it simply just wont budge. the large capital vessal has zero issues but maybe im doing something wrong?
