Description

This mod expands and reworks progression in Confession mode, while also adding new items, activities, and changes to both Confession and Kingdoms

Hero progression has been expanded with new upgrades, and each hero now provides bonuses to the entire team. The system for unlocking skills and hero paths has been reworked. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of new activities, items, trophies, pets, memories, quirks, and more

This mod is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to start a new playthrough and experience fresh gameplay, whether in Confession [🕯️] or Kingdoms [👑] mode

Altar of Hope - The Living City [🕯️]
  • All heroes are unlocked from the start
  • 20 new & reworked upgrades on each hero's track
  • Hero skills are now unlocked in the Altar of Hope
  • Hero paths now unlock during Chapters 1–3 in the Shrine of Reflection
  • Personal Hero Trinkets unlock during Chapters 1–3 in the Shrine of Reflection
  • Personal Hero Inn Items unlock in Chapter 3 in the Shrine of Reflection

Altar of Hope - Other Changes [🕯️]
  • Added new Memories in The Timeless Wood
  • Added new Upgrades in The Intrepid Coast
  • Access to The Mountain (Skins & Palettes) unlocks after the first visit to the Valley Inn
  • Changed progression requirements in The Working Fields

Reworked Some Heal and Stress Heal Skills [🕯️][👑]
  • Targeted Heal Skills: Now restore a small amount of HP even if the hero's health is above 50%
  • Targeted Stress Heal Skills: Now reduce a small amount of stress even if the hero's stress is below 5

  • This change might not be popular, but I personally dislike seeing inactive skills on my bar

New Activity and Items - Inn Delivery [🕯️][👑]
  • Cursed Stagecoach Items: A new type of Stagecoach item found in the Inn, meant to be delivered to the next Inn
  • Delivery Mechanism: To deliver these items, they must be installed in a Stagecoach slot
  • Negative Effects: While installed, these items apply negative effects to your team!
  • Rewards: Successfully delivering an item rewards you with 4 out of 52 possible Whiskey Blends
  • Whiskey Blend: A new Inn item that grants a powerful buff for 3 regions, giving you another layer of control over your run

New Activity and Items - Experimental Reagent [🕯️][👑]
  • A new Combat Item, the Experimental Reagent, can now be found in the Hospital
  • Experimental Reagent must be used on specific types of enemies (see item description for details)
  • When used, enemies will grow stronger, and some may even revive after death
  • After the battle, you'll receive a new Combat Item: Strengthening Reagent, which will significantly boost your hero during the fight

New Activity and Items - The Boss Hunt [🕯️][👑]
  • New Item: Hunting Map
  • The Hunting Map can be found during Resistance Encounters, in an Academic's Cache, or with a high chance as a reward for defeating the Creature Den
  • If the map is in your inventory, a challenging boss fight will appear in the next Creature Den. If you're not ready, you'd better throw it away!
  • Defeating the boss grants a generous reward, including new trophies

New Trophies [🕯️][👑]
  • 9 new Trophies can be earned by defeating the Collector, Death, or the Shambler

New Pets [🕯️][👑]
  • Added 4 new Pets: Talking Skull and Elder Star-Thing [🕯️][👑], Alpha Baby and Coven Weaver [🕯️]
  • Talking Skull: Grants bonuses while Whiskey is in your inventory. Can steal your Whiskey. A drunk troublemaker that annoys everyone
  • Elder Star Thing: Grants bonuses when fighting Cosmics. Applies a random Cosmic Shift Token to an regular enemy at the start of each round. If you don't kill the marked enemy in time, it will be replaced by a Cosmic
  • Alpha Baby: Adds Kingdoms 1 content to Confession. Grants Enrage and Berserk Tokens. The Beast Clan will hunt you. Killing Beastmen may reward items from Kingdoms
  • Coven Weaver: Adds Kingdoms 2 content to Confession. May grant Cleansing Thread Tokens to allies. The Witches will try to kill you. Killing Witches may reward items from Kingdoms

New Food Crafted from Trophies [🕯️][👑]
  • At the Inn, trophies from Lair bosses can now be cooked into special stews. If you have a trophy, new stew dishes will appear in the Inn's inventory, allowing you to exchange the trophy for a meal

New Loot Box Items [🕯️][👑]
  • Added 4 new Inn loot box items: You can receive a random Combat, Inn, Stage Coach, or Trinket item

New Exchange Items [🕯️][👑]
  • Added new Inn items that let you exchange Gold for Relics or Relics for Gold at a very unfavorable rate

New Trinket Upgrade Ritual [🕯️][👑]
  • Added a new Inn item that allows you to upgrade a random Vague or Distant Varying Trinket from your inventory

Other changes
  • Increased enemy difficulty in Confession to balance out hero buffs. Difficulty scales with the current Act, boosting enemy HP, DMG, Crit, Res, and more
  • Added new Positive and Negative Quirks
  • Some Trinkets have been slightly reworked
  • Completing a battle in the Valley now grants 3 Mastery Points instead of 2
  • Some game achievements have been changed
  • Some in-game tutorials have been updated

- Added 2 new Pets!
- Added Kingdoms content to Confession mode (enemies, items, and more)

Alpha Baby
- Heroes can now gain Enrage and Berserk Tokens

Hi! Everything seems to be working fine on my end. Just to clarify: after completing a run, are all your used candles reset to zero, or do they drop to a specific number?

Hi, just wanted to report a possible issue: the Hero Progression system doesn't seem to be working properly. Every time I complete a run, all the Hero Progression points I selected are reset, and the candles spent are fully refunded. Also, during the entire run, the Hero Progression bonuses don’t appear to have any effect at all. It feels like the system is not functioning as intended. Could you please check this?

I did my best to fix all the bugs caused by the Steadfast Steward update.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to thoroughly test everything so if you notice any skill description issues (especially for Occultist, Runaway, or Plague Doctor) or run into other problems, please let me know!

Heads up!
Today's Steadfast Steward update introduced a lot of changes to the base game some of which directly affect this mod. As a result, a few hero skills and paths might not function correctly right now.
I’ll do my best to patch things up later today!

It makes enemies stronger but in return, you’ll receive a more stable version of the reagent that can be used on your own heroes.
It’s risky, but rewarding!

I’d say it makes the game more enjoyable overall.
I did add some slight difficulty adjustments, tougher mobs with more HP, higher resistances, etc. but the enhanced progression and reworked skills make the overall experience easier and smoother.
That said, there are some tough optional parts too, like the Unstable Reagent, Hunting Maps, or the Ethereal Prism that replaces Lairs and makes them quite challenging
