[WoTC] [LWoTC] The Disposable Soldiers Challenge

Description
The Disposable Soldiers Challenge is here to test your strategic abilities and adaptability.

Instructions:
  • At the end of every mission, all your soldiers are dismissed and 8 new randomly generated soldiers are assigned to your team for the next mission.

  • All generated soldiers are drawn from your character pool and given a random class. Their rank is controlled by Force Level and their Promotion perks are picked at random.

  • No soldier can be taken to more than one mission. You have to make do with what you are given. This will challenge you to constantly adapt to a new team and try combos you might have never tried before. You could roll a Templar with Bladestorm, but it could also be 7 Grenadiers and a Medic.

  • Your goal is to beat the game before the RNG beats you.

Recommendations:
  • Build the biggest character pool you can before you start. I'd suggest 500 units at least. You will burn through soldiers real fast.

  • You might want to look at some other randomization mods. This mod doesn't randomize soldier stats but other mods exist that do. Go nuts.

Mod Info:
  • This mod doesn't override anything.

  • You might experience some lag when you come back from a mission as the game generates new soldiers. That means the mod is working.

  • Weapons and utility items are unequipped before dismissal so you don't lose them. PCSs can't be unequipped and are lost.

  • You can change the number of generated soldiers in the config but it's not a challenge if you make it really large. You can also change the Force Levels after which you start receiving higher ranked soldiers, in case you want to make it easier or harder on yourself.

  • You can install and uninstall the mod mid campaign.

Thank you

You can start with any number of soldiers you want. The more you do the less likely to see the same soldier again. If you start with 20 soldiers you'll see the same one but with a different class every other mission.

Any reason to build a character pool of 500 besides just wanting them to all start off with appearances you decided upon?

It's this mod's doing. This mod clears all items from all slots before it dismisses any soldiers so you don't lose any items. I have not coded the mod to know if some soldiers are on infiltration and thus mustn't have their inventory cleared because they won't be dismissed. I need to fix this in the code.

* utility slot items, bob smith whatever they're called

In LWOTC any time I return from a mission and new units are generated, all my units that are still sent out on infiltration get all their gear slot items taken away. This is unbelieveably frustrating, what scenario or mod combination would cause that?

There's a 1 in 16 chance to get a spark, and a 3 in 16 to get a faction soldier.

Cool then ^-^
Does this also work for sparks? Randomized sparks would be crazy!

The game always prioritizes the character pool if your options allow. If you have 3 soldiers in your pool, you'd get those 3 every time, plus 5 random ones. You can get random game generated soldiers if you have no character pool soldiers at all. Either a really large pool or no pool at all works fine.

Sucks that it's only the character pool, but this is a very interesting idea, It's like a randomizer, but always constantly shifting.
