Description

What:
Reduces the playable area to the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. The intent is to focus on the features of the Legacy of Persia and Roads to Power DLCs.

This version extends the map all the way East. Restoring the Eastern half of Turan (Tarim Basin) and encompassing the whole of India, Tibet, and up into Mongolia. This was done for people who like to play in the East.

Why:
Lag reduction. I'd like to play without the bloat of tens of thousands of characters in far flung realms with which I'll never interact. The smaller map mods in the workshop are still too broad or went a little too narrow for tastes, so I made my own.

Notable Changes:
  • Most regions have been made impassable. The titles and characters from those regions have been removed.
  • Only characters within playable bounds will appear in bookmarks.
  • The 'Unite Africa' decision only requires the playable regions.
  • The 'Secure the Mediterranean' decision no longer requires Mallorca.
  • The Seljuk and Mongol invasion work normally without needing changes.

Known Bugs and Incompatibilities:
  • Not compatible with anything that changes 00_landed_titles.txt, provinces.png, and possibly title histories.

Known Compatibilities:

Other Map Reduction Mods

No Longer Updating:
I'm very sorry to anyone who enjoys my mods, but I'll no longer be updating them.

It's been a long time since I last touched CK3, and I haven't check in on my mods regularly. With a play time of 1000+ hours, I've had my fill of the game.

It took me a long time to fix my mods when RoP came out and I had to practically rebuild them all from scratch. The next big update will will definitely break my map mods again, CTD kind of break.

I'm not at all keen on going through the laborious process of trouble-shooting and fixing these mods again. It's too much work for no reward. Once I get reports that these mods are no longer playable, I will unlist them.

Check your crash report. The last few lines will tell you why it crashed and that will help you track down the bug.

Removing a religion sounds like a problem. It isn't necessary. And I think you would have to remove every single character and county in the world that is assigned to that religion to avoid errors, not just Yemen.

Thanks, I tried to remove Yemen, removed religion and land, but the game still crashes, I don't find any resolution in Yemen.

1.
Correct. But I don't want them all to become wanderers.

2.
Characters technically don't need to be removed. But it's best to do so because of the problem connected to #1.

If you remove India but not its characters, those now-homeless characters will flood into the courts of other parts of the map. Then you could have Indian cultures taking root in Sweden or something. See #4 for the amount of work it takes.

I switch to different characters all over the map to see which decisions are naturally available. I only remove the ones that are meant to be entirely outside the map. I modify other ones that's are partly outside to keep them within the bounds of the map.

4.
Characters are sorted into files based on culture, I delete everything inside the cultures I don't need. If Britannia isn't on the map, I remove all that characters from Anglo-Saxon, English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, etc.

Then, if necessary, I determine if anyone needs to be added back in. Much less work because I need to deal with much fewer characters on an individual level.

Use "charinfo" in the game to find the ID for characters you want to keep.

1. Historical figures will not crash if they are not removed, they will only exist as wanderers.
2。 Do you have to remove historical figures? That's a lot of work, and it exists in different files.
3. The most important point is the decisions file, how to determine which ones to keep and which ones to delete?

q:4. Removing affected historical characters in history/characters and history/titles.
How to determine which characters must be deleted?
The lord of each county's lands?

I've updated the list of other map mods in the description. I wanted to show you guys some other options, for when this mod finally breaks.

Cheers.

Surprisingly, these maps appear to remain functional without additional work. Updated for 1.16.0.

Paradox came out with a dev blog detailing the next big update shortly after my previous post. I think the changes to steppes and the new nomad government will definitely break this mod. CTD kind of break.

I see a new modder, sateuia440, is making these kinds of map mods for the current version of the game. He calls them "Mapsclusive" and has a bunch already. I'll put a link to them in my map mods' descriptions. I'm sure their will be new modders to take up the mantle of making smaller maps after the nomad update.

I can also see that few of my mods have lost all their preview pictures for some reason. Now it's all like "Missing Image: rh_1.jpg" or similar. I think this is more likely a Steam issue. We'll see if it fixes itself, but I'm not keen on reinstalling just to recreate some pictures either.
