描述
This mod gives tower outposts a 40% chance to spawn a small force to ambush enemy armies in their region. These can be reinforced by armies in refugee camp outposts.

Why I made this mod
I was never really that happy with towers, which had a pretty small benefit in defending a territory. I grew frustrated that small armies would wreck my shrines, or invading armies would waltz through a heavily defended region whilst fort garrisons sat comfortably behind their walls.

So I gave towers an additional benefit as described above.

How it works:
At the end of a characters turn, if they are in hostile territory with a tower outpost, they are logged as a candidate for ambush.
At the start of a regions turn, if there is a candidate for ambush in them, there is a 40% chance to spawn a small army that will ambush the invader.
This battle can be reinforced like any other, so nearby armies of refugee camps can assist the small force.
At the end of combat (or if the ambusher declines to attack) the ambushing army is destroyed.

Narrative explanation:
In my mind, towers act as little outposts where small groups of civilian warriors meet up and go scouting, perhaps finding and tracking enemy armies on patrol. They may choose to harass larger armies, destroy small invaders, or even begin skirmishing a large army to buy time for reinforcements.
After the battle is over, if any units that survive, go back to the tower to be the "home guard"civilians that they are. Military campaigns is not for them.

Gameplay implications:
  • very weak trespassing armies can be ambushed and wiped out/ finished off by tower ambushes.
  • Combined with Refugee Camp outposts, provides an ambush opportunity to weaken or destroy larger armies that may be passing through border regions.
  • A chance sieging units could get attacked.

  • Highlands: 3 Kaskian javelins
  • Isuwa & Lowlands: 4 Isuwan slingers
  • Nubia & Kush: 3 Nubian hunters
  • Lower Egypt: 4 lower Egyptian militia slingers
  • Retjennu & Sinai: 1 habiru militia, 2 habiru archers
  • Upper Egypt: 4 upper Egyptian slingers
  • Western Desert: 4 Libu slingers
  • Yamhad: 4 Canaanite rock throwers
  • Aber Nahra: 2 Ahlamu nomad tribesmen, 1 Ahlamu pack camel
  • Achaea: 4 Achaean slingers
  • Assuwa: 4 Assuwan slingers
  • Haltamti: 4 Elamite slingers
  • Mat Assur: 3 Akkadian hunters
  • Mat Tamti: 1 Akkadian farmer, 2 Akkadian archers
  • Thrace: 3 forest skirmishers
  • Zagros: 3 Uratu hunters

Weird, I used this mod and now I can't retreat in that campaign even after unsibscribing, can retreat fine in a new game.

No more chasing 2-4 Unit armies around my lands while they burn all my outposts. I finaly have an incentive to build forts and towers! Could this feature be added to other titles? It would have to be through the in settlement buildings.

Im experiencing a game breaking bug I think caused by this mod.
After winning a tower ambush battle, the troops dissolves as expected, but my administration burden skyrocket to max level, leading to the collapse of my economy in few turns.

I had purposefully made it so that you can't decline an attack to reduce the chances of armies not getting deleted properly - but it hasn't quite worked. I intend to revisit and rewrite this script to remove those edge-case bugs at some point.

The mod is good but buggy, I've had instances where the ambush tower spawns then despawns ambush armies at different locations from turn to turn and i'm able to recruit with them. furthermore they cannot decline an attack and anytime the ambush army is despawned it appears administrative burden goes down disproportionately so I end up recovering administrative burden back to the game starting level, 30 turns into the game. without all of these bugs this would be a fantastic mod but for now until it is fixed, I can't use it.

ALSO while ambushing city garrison and refugee camp should be able to reinforce unless under siege

Hello there, ARMIES should be ambushed while entering the region and not while sieging cities. ALSO the armies close to the ambushed army should be able to reinforce it.

Any chance of you porting your border gore mod from Warhammer 3 to Paraoh? Feel like it would benefit the game greatly

Will test this in my next campaign, I agree that +2/3 units feels small but it also only costs 140 stone for 3 units forever free upkeep, have to see if constant small ambushes are more of a buff for players as I expect the game still gives battle loot.
