The project was started on April 3, 2024. Initially, it was supposed to be just a remake of a Destruction Derby car for my own use for rendering graphics, and eventually I moved it to Wreckfest. To this day, it is not really known what exact car model was used in the game, and the theory is that it is a Chevrolet Lumina or Beretta. That is where the idea and name for the project "Luretta" came from after combining these two models into one.


Modification content:

- seven default cars from DD (yes seven, one additional with the PlayStation logo from the Sony/E3 demo version??) for DD Classic mode.
- one fully customizable car "Luretta GT" for DD Legends mode.
- "THE BOWL" taken directly from DD game (it was used for testing, in the end I decided to leave it in the modification)
- five racing classes:
> DD Classic (opponents from DD1 - default division, choose 19 opponents)
> DD Classic (opponents from DD1 and DD2 - default division, choose 23 opponents)
> DD Legends (New Age Derby - random division, destruction derby car from game cover)
> DD Legends (Banger Racing - random division, banger racing car style)
> DD Legends (Stock Car Racing - random division, stock car style)
- all DD1 car paint jobs upscaled using AI ("DD1" - Destruction Derby 1)
- four fictional DD2 car paint jobs based on original paint colours from the game ("DD2" - Destruction Derby 2)
- other fictional paint jobs ("CNA" - Custom New Age, "CEE" - Custom Easter Egg)
- some tuning, armor and visual parts for personalizing the vehicle
- the ability to turn the windshield on or off from the cockpit
- a few Easter Eggs and other things I've already forgotten about

Things to do if the mod gains more popularity:

- finish banger and stock car parts and specifications
- additional paint jobs, stickers, liverys
- additional parts like bumpers, headlights, armor, wheels, spoilers, NASCAR style elements etc.
- build a new car for Destruction Derby 2 Legends mode
- and most importantly, port this mod to Wreckfest 2 if possible :-)

Only the PlayStation car is different, the other two are the same as in the final game.

This is awesome and you are awesome. We share the same love for DD, more specifically mine is DD 2 ....My ultimate nostalgia was seeing a race map similar to Chalk Canyon. Thank you for your time and effort on this. Great stuff!

I can make the doors open and break off with a bigger impact in a classic derby. Alternatively, I can add a new permanently closed door in armor selection. I will definitely do something with them and update the mod with a new car model for the Stock Car mode:

This will be the third and final model for DD1 mode. Perhaps Vin Petrol will use it for the new Nascar mod. Then work on the DD2 model will begin.

The car is available in the prototype version of the game, in link mode as player 2. I'm surprised that no one has ever discovered it, there is no mention of this paint job on Destruction Derby Fandom etc.
