SIS Give To Allies

Description
Mod obsolete in beta branch due to new patch. Please deactivate it if you are using it.

Change notes
  • You can now also give items to looter and non-looter communities that aren't allied to you. Disabled by default.
  • Characters receiving items will thank you. Enabled by default.

What is this?
This mod makes it possible to give items to allies (or non-allies if enabled) through the trading window when they don't have enough gold. This will increase their approval of you as it will be seen as a gift. The more expensive the 'gift', the more the relationship between you and the ally will increase.

Can be added to current saves.

Settings
The settings file can be found in the mod folder under "Settings_GiveToAllies.xml"
  • MoraleGiftFactor. The approval factor, which affects how much the relationship with the ally will increase. (default 1.0)
  • CanGiveToNonAllyLooters. Whether you can give items to non allied characters from looter communities. (default false)
  • CanGiveToNonAllyNeutrals. Whether you can give items to non allied characters from non looter communities. (default false)
  • SpeakOnGift. Whether characters receiving items will thank you. (default true)

Compatibility
Shouldn't have any incompatibilities. Report any issues in the comments section!

Made obsolete as a mod, but made it into the base game. I'd say that goes to show how good your mod was.

Looks like this was made vanilla.

Normally it should automatically generate it for you once you run a save with the mod (either create a save with it or load a save with the mod)

what to do again if I dont have the xml in the folder?

You should now be able to give items to any non-hostile communities. Just make sure to enable the options in the settings file (CanGiveToNonAllyLooters, CanGiveToNonAllyNeutrals)

Just started a new game, and advanced the story to the tent city, and tried to 'gift' one of the tents outside that I demolished.

But I think now that I may have misunderstood what you mean by "allies". I thought you meant any friendly community that isn't hostile or bullying yours, like FEMA and tent city.

By allies do you mean when they appear as blue dots on the map?

In that case it'd be nice if you could also gift to any non-hostile community.

Hmm I'll look into that. Could you explain with more details what happened? Are you sure the character you tried giving items to is an ally to your community? Did the character have enough weight capacity to hold the items you chose to give?

I tried gifting items in Story mode, it did not work.

Man, you are intern developer for this game right now :)
Thank you for great work.

I hope that this gets added to the base game! It would be nice to be able to help out allied communities by giving them better weapons or other resources.
