Character Traits Expansion UPDATED

Description
Character Traits Expansion

I’m excited to introduce the Character Traits Expansion (77 New Traits!) for Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties. This mod significantly enhances the RPG aspect of Pharaoh's characters by adding 77 brand new traits that your characters can acquire in the campaign. Each trait is crafted to enrich character development and align with the style and vibe of traits from Medieval 2, Rome Total War, Attila, and Rome 2, while maintaining balance and compatibility with the base game. Most of the new traits are straight up ports of traits from those games.

Traits are gained by meeting certain conditions, such as being present in a settlement during the construction of a military administration building, a farm, or a mine just as some examples. Spending time in settlements with certain buildings can gain characters traits related to that building, like taverns/beer halls resulting in characters picking up drinking or gambling. Winning and losing battles against a given culture can result in that character hating or fearing that culture. Characters now also inherit traits from their parents!

Enjoy the enhanced character depth and flavor! Please report any bugs or balance issues you encounter.

Some Examples of the New Traits Include:
  • Conqueror - awarded for destroying factions
  • Bloody - acquired from suffering high casualties
  • Heretic - gained through adopting the Legacy of Akhenaten
  • Inbred - inherited through lineage
  • Lucky/Unlucky - earned from ambushing or being ambushed
  • Sea Legs - developed from extensive time at sea
  • Degenerate - developed from spending time in a settlement with Palaces of Pleasures
  • Scout- developed from spending time outside of settlements
  • Epithets for many traits such as "the Cruel," "the Cuckold," and "the Brave!"

FAQ:

1. Is this mod compatible with other mods?
- This mod is designed to be compatible with most mods that do not extensively overhaul character traits. Theoretically this might include big overhauls like Agony or Radious, though I haven't tested it.

2. Can I use this mod with existing save games?
- Yes, the mod is compatible with ongoing campaigns. However, you cannot disable it once you've activated it and saved your campaign with it enabled.

If you open up my mod's script in Notepad ++ or VScode, the fix is very simple if you want to disable this mechanic. Just search for the "SELF_PERPETUATING_TRAITS" table, and reduce the chance to 0%.

@Mingles The issue is that a lot of the traits (both positive and negative) are "self-perpetuating." This means that once you acquire one, every turn it has a small (1-4%) chance to level up to the next tier. This mechanic right down to the % chance was ripped 1-to-1 from Medieval 2 and Attila. I've already nerfed their chances to self-perpetuate even lower since release. When I come back to Pharaoh eventually I will look into them again. Thank you for the feedback.

the will of the gods traits are basically only bad and eventually all of the characters get them...this really needs your attention just sayin..

this REALLY needs an update all my generals are blind and lame and i know the triggers. A lot don't make sense and the bad traits need to be toned down DRASTICALLY

Some of these traits need to be looked into. One of my generals just received the Questionable trait, even though the province he's in has no gold producing regions.

A suggestion - change "Attacking Victory / Defeat" to "Confident Attacker / Unsure Attacker" so it sounds more like other traits (i.e. adjectives).

also all my leaders are "gambler" "profane" drunkard" like what...? these negative traits need a huge nerf.
