SweetFX: Gritty Lighting Overhual

Description
(Please for the love of god read the description in full before asking for help)

*UPDATE*
With the Nightfall DLC being released the stock settings will make night maps darker than I intented. If you're unsure of how to make the night maps not as dark, let me know in the comments and i'l tell you the values you need to change.

*READ THIS NOW OR REGRET EVERYTHING*
Subscribing to this mod does nothing, it is mainly a hub for questions and comments to be centralized for ease of access. Refer to the instructions below for instructions on how to install the mod.
ALSO, due to steam not allowing me to upload pictures above 2 MB onto the workshop, I will include a folder in the download that contains a large sample of screenshots for you to view.

*INTRO*

This mod changes the lighting of the game by using a shader suite, known as SweetFX, while also adding effects such as HDR, Lumasharpen, Vignette, SMAA, Tonemap, S-Curves Contrasting, Vibrance, and Lift Gamma Gain.

*INSTALLATION*

In order to install this mod, you will need to download the .zip file, linked here https://www.dropbox.com/s/plpc7tfwgg0w5ew/SweetFX%20Gritty%20Lighting%20Shader%20Suite.zip?dl=0

(Note: if for some reason your anti-virus or web-browser warns you of possible mal-ware, ignore it, as it is a false-positive due to the included .dll files).

Once the download finishes, you should see three folders. One labeled, "SweetFX Config Tool", another labeled "Screenshots", and the other as, "SweetFX Files".

I will explain the use of the config tool later, but for now, open the 'SweetFX Files' Folder. Copy all of the contents into your Insurgency folder.

*This is usually located in the following directory*
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\insurgency2

Now locate the d3d9.dll file and put that file in the bin folder of your insurgency2 folder.

Once that is done go in game and disable any form of AA, (Anti-Aliasing), you have currently enabled. This is due to AA conflicting with the shader suite and disabling it entirely.

After that you should notice a change in color on your main menu. If that is so, then you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

To ensure that the mod is enabled press your Scroll lock key and see if the color pallet changes. If it does then the mod was installed correctly. If it did not, try your pause/break key, (or function keys), to see if it works then. If not, you can always go into the injector.ini file and change the key bindings.

*USING THE CONFIGURATOR*

Once you have installed the correct files, go back to the 'SweetFX Configurator' folder and open it. Inside, you should see four files, with one of them being a .exe file.

Unpack the folder where ever you want to put it and run the .exe

(Note, if the configurator crashes, be sure to check the configurator.ini file and alter the drive letter paths if needed.
Thanks, Hingle McCringleberry!)

Once the program loads, look at the bottom left corner of the window and click, "Add New Game". You will then locate your insurgency.exe file and select open.

If done correctly, you may now modify the values of the config file and change the settings to how you see fit.

*AUTHOR'S NOTES*

1. While settings in this mod can be used stock, I recommend looking through the config, and tweaking the values to fit your monitor. A niftty feature of the mod is that you can toggle the affects in-game, so if you like them on one map, but hate them on another, you can just disable them for that map.

2. The main focus of this mod was to make night map actually dark and semi-realistic, while also trying to not compromise the lighting of day-time maps.

3. This mod works well on the following maps: Contact, District, Heights, Minestry, Panj, Peak ,Revolt, Uprising, and any map on the Hunt gamemode.
The maps that you might have mixed results on are Buhriz, Market, Siege, and Sinjar (Although not as bad on Sinjar).

4. Please for the love of everything holy, let me know if there is some kind of error or bug and I will fix it as soon as I have the time to.

5. You will not get VAC Banned for using this mod. I have been using it for over 100 hours on Insurgency and have not recieved a ban.

6. For more information on SweetFX in general, take a look at this thread
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=381912

7. I did not create the configurator, I simply included it in the download to allow people to easily chagne the lighting if they didn't like the current configuration. Credit for the program goes to Terrasque http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/

This still works as of 12/02/16 and is a wonderful addition to ins. I have used it for years in this game and others. The best visual upgrade you can do to your Insurgency game.

is there a working way to do this on a mac?
Darwinia  [author] 6 Jun, 2016 @ 11:13am
@apotato SweetFX is a windows only program, it is not made for mac. It will not be updated for mac (unless the developers of SweetFX decides to do it, which I highly doubt).

@Rymd Yeah this should be compatible as a reshade and/or 2.0. You would just have to tweak the ini file to get the new features working.

In the download there should be a file called SWEETFX Readme, which contains a couple troubleshooting notes that should point you in the right direction. This is going off of memory, but I believe your error is due to sweetfx having write permissions for the insurgecny2 folder. Again check the readme for more details.

@lord wiener
No you can only use either no AA at all, or sweetfx's integrated SMAA. This is due to how certain filters can overwrite sweetfx's changes to the game.

@JAX
Thank you for your kind words.
