Description

Again and again, life has taught us a difficult lesson. We are not special. We will never escape our misery, and whatever wants to kill us will probably succeed. Most of us were slaves. We escaped to find a better life, but it’s a delusion. There’s nothing out here but sand and death. Everywhere we look, there’s just miles and miles of sand, with a new threat over every dune. All we have are the disgusting tattered rags on our back, and without those, we’d be dead. Throughout the long days, the scorching sun beats us down relentlessly, and we freeze each night. We’d kill for just one morsel. Anything to relieve this torture. If we survive the day, it’s because we are cursed.

The Starving Vagrants is the eighth installation in my Empires of Old mod series. This series aims to expand upon RimWorld’s lore and introduce new alien civilizations to the game.

Many of the vagrants are escaped slaves or fugitives from one of the planet’s many factions. They lead wretched lives. Every day is a struggle for survival. All they own in the world are the rags on their back, which barely serve to protect them from the harsh sun. They often resort to theft just to gather enough food to survive the day, but most won’t, and they know it.

The vagrants fight with sticks and stones. Some might carry scimitars or cheap bolters. They don’t have much to trade.

- 1 new faction.
- 1 new culture.

This mod is compatible with CE and VFE – Empire. The new factions will not make use of the new royalty mechanics, such as the Great Hierarchy.

Patched for:
- Vanilla Ideology Expanded – Memes and Structures.
- Alpha Memes
- Vanilla Base Generation Expanded

Thank you to the RimWorld modding community for answering my stupid questions.

I like the idea of a "poor" faction, one that doesn't have as many resources as any of the other factions. My favorite thing to do with this mod is to make the Vagrants enemies with the Faceless Sultanate, install Rim War, and watch them battle for complete control over the desert. Also I use Faction Customizer and WorldEdit 2.0 to put them all in the same area, by the way.

it was a pretty funny quick game
my storyteller also spammed me with wild men who for some reason wanted to eat only me
i think it's either an incompatibility of my mods or it's just a thing where the storyteller kinda freaks out when you have only 1 colonist, idk
so eventually there were 7 of them standing outside my hut waiting for me to starve or come out

@CosmoCone That shouldn't be possible. This faction's pawnKinds are restricted only to very specific items. Something you have installed might be interfering with it. Your guess is as good as mine as to what that might be.
