Description
Adds Italy as a new Civilization led by Victor Emmanuel II, with two personas available for different approaches.

Art and invention go hand in hand as you generate both Great Engineers and Great Artists to fuel the production output of your empire. Seek to spread your religion, and as each era passes, stack a powerful bonus to great person generation through the Golden Ages of not only your own empire but those of your neighbours.

Your Condottiere are mercenaries willing to fight for friendly nations in their wars of religion. Choose your declarations of friendship wisely and your religion will spread through war, even without your direct involvement.

The Piazza is the center of every Italian city. A hub for faith, art, and tourism. Place wisely between districts to produce more great people of any type, or place in strong tourist locations like beaches and ski resorts to create a hot spot for visitors to your culture.

Rinascimento
  • Generate +10% Great Engineer and Great Artist points per turn for every current and previous Golden Age experienced by Italy, or by other Civilizations while they were following Italy's Founded Religion.
  • Relics and Great Works of Art grant +2 Production.
  • Workshops have +2 slots for Great Works of Art and provide +1 Great Artist point per turn.

Condottiere (Knight)
Unique Heavy Cavalry unit unlocked at Mercenaries
  • Higher Combat Strength (55 vs. 50). No resource requirement. Must be purchased with Gold.
  • Declared Friends of Italy can purchase Condottiere, granting Italy 10% of the base Gold cost.
  • Spreads owner's Majority Religion to nearby cities when defeating a unit from an enemy civilization or city-state.*
*it will spread the current majority religion of the owner's empire, so ensure you maintain your religion in those you allow to purchase your mercenaries.

Piazza (Holy Site)
Unique district
  • The Shrine and Temple receive +1 slot for a Great Work of Art.
  • This district's Shrine and adjacent districts with buildings provide +1 Great Person Point of their type.
  • Major +2 adjacency from Wonder
  • Standard +1 adjacency from City Center
  • Minor +0.5 adjacency from Neighborhood, Beach Resort, City Park (after Cultural Heritage)
  • Standard +1 adjacency from Ski Resort (after Cultural Heritage)
  • No adjacency from Woods

Victor Emmanuel II Personas
Pater Patriae
Risorgimento
  • Regional effects from your Capital reach 3 tiles farther and cities within 6 tiles of your Capital are always 100% Loyal.
  • Unlocks the Move Capital Project after Nationalism, which can be completed once to move your Capital to any city*.
  • Unlocks the Bersagliere with Rifling.
*can't be conquered cities (game restriction)

Bersagliere (Ranger)
Unique Recon unit when Victor Emmanuel II (Pater Patriae) is the leader.
  • Has +5 Combat Strength within 6 tiles of any Palace, doubled within 3 tiles.
  • Ignores Zone of Control.

Galantuomo
  • Likes to keep his cities happy and loyal and likes civilizations doing the same. Dislikes civilizations with low loyalty and happiness, especially when taken they've conquered cities.

Unificatore
Expedition of the Thousand
  • Cities yield +2% Culture per turn for each City-State unit currently levied.
  • Levied units have +5 Combat Strength.
  • Gain the Garibaldine unit with Nationalism.

Garibaldine (Ranger)
Unique Melee unit when Victor Emmanuel II (Unifactore) is the leader.
  • +5 Strength and +1 Movement to both Garibaldine and Levied units when at least one is adjacent to another.

l'Italia Sara!
  • Seeks to protect City-State sovereignty while forming many corps and armies. Likes civilizations that do the same. Dislikes those who compete for City-States and who attack City-States.

Notes
This was perhaps one of the most complex mods I've created and I had to make certain design choices due to restrictions I encountered as I worked. Playtesting alone with all the intricacies of the design was time consuming and has taken up a lot of my time. I believe I've ironed out most bugs, but I would appreciate clear and concise feedback should anyone encounter any issues. Thank you!

update:
tried your mod Anglo-Saxons leader mod. It works, with official addon's (Barbarians, Gatti Scout, Aztecs, ecc.) and some Sukritact UI mods activated. BUT same Anglo-Saxons game doesn't start with Merrick's Italy activated.
M. Italy leader game doesn't start (see error above) with same addons.

Hi,
I've tried to start a standard GS game, continents standard map and settings, epic lenght, no community mods activated, only officials.
No other official DLC installed.
Some DLC required?

"Error in starting game message. Recommended to disable all mods and retry. One or more mods cannot load contents".

Adjusted adjacency bonuses so that Woods no longer provide adjacency and Neighbourhoods, City Parks, and Beach Resorts provide Minor rather then Standard.

The loading screen text for Unifactore has "EXPEDITION_THOUSAND" in it for me
