UOS213K "Oil Spear"

Description
Welcome to the Murlanian Vehicle Works "Oil Spear"! (Thank you so much for getting it to the front page! My first time up here)

  • This is a fully functional Deep Sea Oil Drilling Submarine.

  • The sub is capable of drilling, pumping out and being able to pull up the rods and move to another site.

  • All without the use of fuel. The sub comes with a Vanilla parts built Electric fired steam system

  • Please DO NOT re-upload creation, without express permission. Please.

  • Updated Oct 31,2024. Found diving suits Air Resupply system not completed. Now it is. ;)
  • Updated Nov 1, 2024. Added more handheld and Misc Equipment. Including some handheld weapons and have been placed in non sensitive areas and WILL NOT cause leaks if you don't have the DLC.
  • Updated Nov 5, 2024. Updated to remove non essential components, reworked HVAC system, modified Oil Out pumps to float.

    PLEASE READ THE OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS!!
This sub is still mostly manually operated for establishing drill site. Please take a minute to explore the sub and familiarize yourself with the buttons prior to operating the Submarine. No auto pilot or auto drilling features. These may be added in the future.

    Operations.
Press "H" to call up seat functions
    1. The Sub is turned on be default spawn.

    2. Wait for "Full Power" Generator Light to come on. It'll take a minute for the Steam system to come up.

    3. Enter Drill Site coordinates (Purchased from "Oil Data Vendor" locations.) and make way when ready.

    4. Once underway & 5 Meters or more below the Laser distance reading, press "Auto Mode" on the left hand screen to achieve neutral buoyancy.

    5. when 150 M or less to drill site, Throttle down to 10% to 5% throttle & activate the Descent sequence. (recommend about 75M from bottom of sea floor.

    6. Use the U/D & L/R keys for Vertical Stability on the way down. The Sub MUST be almost vertical. The tilt sensor reading needs to be between 0.235 & 0.25 before it'll lock in. This WILL take practice. Also be sure to pay attention to sideways vertical status as well as front & rear, Drilling operations can get weird if there is a sideways lean.

    7. Once attached, throttle unit down to Zero (Throttle dead zone -0.02 to +0.02) & turn off "Auto Mode" on the Ballast system. Now press "Fwd Drain & Mid Drain" buttons. It is heavily recommended to allow drilling area (Mid Ballast) to drain completely before proceeding to drill. **Risk of Gripper assembly errors / physics oopsies is greater.**

    8. Make way to Drilling Station and enter seat.

    9. Enable "Release Travel locks" and use W/A/S/D keys to move gripper. (Caution! Gripper may need to be retracted prior to moving from stored position.)

    DRILLING OPERATIONS
    • Pump Jack movements are interlocked with seat Occupied channel and can be bypassed & is alarmed

    • A Process Bell will ding whenever a clamp has been locked.
    1. Enable pump jack controls and flip up switch to move up Pump Jack.
    2. Grab Rod from wall and move Rod up so bottom of rod is in lower Gripper Camera screen. (Upper Left hand screens)
    3. Enable Joiner Clamp
    4. Switch gripper to loading position (Button 1) & align insertion target.
    5. Move rod down until Joiner Clamp light becomes solid.
    6. Retract Gripper and switch back to rod wall.
    7. Flip down Pump Jack switch.
    8. Enable Drill Motor and Slurry Pumps.
    9. Repeat Rod Loading Procedure as required.

    STRIKING OIL
    • This feature is automatic. Once the well has been struck, the Well Head Pressure MUST be above 0.5 ATM to enable the Pumping feature.

    • IF the well head pressure fails to rise above 0.5 after getting the oil animation sequence, toss in one more rod and send it down.

    • With proper well head pressure, simply disable the Drill and slurry pumps and sit back and relax.

    • At this point you can trigger the Release Float Key switch and have your support ship connect to pump out.

Retraction Mode | Once the well has dried up or you'd like to move, perform the following:
      • Sit in Drilling station & Flip up "Retraction Mode' Switch
      • Send up the pump jack to the top and leave it there.
      • Enable Joiner Clamp and move Joiner Assembly as far up as it can go.This will pull up the rod.
      • Disable Joiner Clamp and move it back down to the bottom and the re-enable the Joiner Clamp.
      • Move Gripper mechanism into position to grab Oil Rod and enable the Gripper Clamp.
      • Press the Manual Join/Disconnect button.
      • Position rod in camera windows and place rod back onto storage wall.
      • Repeat as required until all rods have been removed.
      • Move to Helm & set reverse throttle to -10%
      • Press "Arm Descent System" keyswitch and associated locked button.
      • Slowly increase reverse throttle until the Oil Spear detaches from the sea floor.
      • Stop all throttle and manually adjust ballast tanks as required. "autoMode may not be the best choice pending how much oil is on board.

When I put the first rod in all good, but then when I try and put a second rod in it doesn't seem to work - some problem with the joiner maybe? Most likely I am forgetting some crucial step. Any help would be appreciated!

@sci_dude I believe it does. I think there are some components in there from that DLC group, but I could be mistaken. It's happened before. (Just ask my wife. Lol)

This might be a stupid question, does this require the Industrial frontier dlc?
