Description
As I've been familiarizing myself with adding particle effects on weapons like those on "Electro Guns", "Funny Guns" & "Melee Sharpshooting", I suddenly remembered this weapon from Counter Strike Online (Nexon). This was one of my favourite guns that helped me survive much longer on harder difficulty on "Zombie Scenario", with its splash damage. As I'd already got the gist of how to make it with my existing knowledge, I gave a try here.

& behold, a transcendence weapon, "Ak47 Paladin"

Just like the original, there's special ammo that can be used when player uses scope. Yeah, you can use scope on ak47 with this mod. During using scope, the special ammo will trigger small explosion that gives splash damage to the zombies near the one hit with the ammo.

Some slight differences compared to the original:
  • The original has a smaller light blue explosion when it hits a zombie/ object, but this one has a orange but slightly bigger explosion.

  • The original only has the explosion effect, but this one has additional fireball effects to indicate that the splash damage is applied.

  • The original has hit marks when it successfully hits a zombie, but this one doesn't. Instead, the explosion & fireball effects become the indications when it successfully hits zombies.

  • Certain chance of pushback effect is applied on SI & tank, & stumble effect on CI & witch (20% on SI, tank & witch, 30% on CI). Splash damage can trigger the chance too. (Now the pushback chance on SI & tank can be adjusted via cfg file)

  • Ammo can run out, as it uses default ak47 max ammo (the original has unlimited ammo on "Zombie Scenario" mode).

Features available on "ak47 paladin.txt" cfg file:
  1. Ak47 Paladin Mode: This controls how the special ammo is triggered. Mode 1 is via bullet impact (when a bullet successfully hits a zombie/ object. Accuracy is based on ak47 accuracy). Mode 2= Sharpshooting mode (accuracy is 100% as long as target in the crosshair).

  2. Ak47 Paladin User: Which type of survivor can use special ammo from ak47 Paladin (bots only/ players only/ all). For bots, if they're allowed to use special ammo, they can use without having to use scope.

  3. Ak47 Paladin Special Danage: Damage of the special ammo. Min= 1, max= no limit (special ammo damage is separated from original ak47 damage, so this is counted as additional 2nd damage after the original damage).:

  4. Ak47 Paladin Knockback Chance: Chance to knockback special infected & tank. Default value is 20, max is 100 (100% chance).

  5. NEW Gore Mode: When enabled, common infected killed with special ammo will be dismembered like when they're hit by explosion.

Q: "Does the explosion hurt teammates?"
A: "The original one doesn't, so this one doesn't either. But on sharpshooting mode on mode 2, survivor players can stumble other survivor with special ammo."

With this mod, at least people would start to believe, that creating this kind of weapon from CSO is also possible here in L4D2. I hope that this weapon could trigger other modders to have other crazy ideas to create other futuristic weapons like this :D .

  • Valve & Nexon: Counter Strike Online.

Notes:
  • A video preview will be added later.
  • The Ak47 Paladin skin mod on the "Required Items" is just optional. You can use this mod even without the skin mod.
  • The special bullet of ak47 Paladin, can damage custom enemies in custom campaigns, but the splash damage can't.
  • A known bug: As this uses "bullet_impact" event function to reduce ak47 fire rate when using scope, sometimes the fire rate goes back to normal when shooting the sky or bottomless pits.

@kurochama in terms of combo buttons I thinking holding the walk button should be ok, the CnC Super Weapons script was made by holding the walk button for an ability to be used

@云状态未同步 , for a feature to change probability of knockback effect, I think it's possible to be made. But for explosion effect, the special ammo of original ak47 Paladin always explodes, so I think giving probability of explosion effect could stray from the original Paladin. This explosion effect is only triggered during using scope anyway, so players can cancel scope mode to use normal ak47 ammo.

@TheTeaa , if what you meant about "field upgrade" is about certain support items/ abilities triggered when fulfilling certain conditions (like killing certain number of zombies etc). This kind of feature should be possible to made in L4D2. Probably the only problems are the limited combo buttons.

Kuro, I have a good idea for your next mod... you should make a mod that lets survivors have the field upgrades from call of duty black ops cold war zombies! Survivors get infected kills which charges the field upgrade, then when charged, hold the walk button to activate the field upgrade! search up "cold war zombies field upgrades" on youtube and you can see what they are :)

Another great work:steamthumbsup:! Before that, I thought that only the plugin would allow the AK47 to activate the scope. The knockback effect of the special bullet can very significantly suppress the special infected (especially when the tank is moving rocks), and the explosion effect is also useful enough for the horde.
and I am looking forward to the future update if it allows for custom settings such as the probability of triggering knockback and the explosion effect, so that its effects can be manually balanced, as a reasonable new feature of AK47 to use in normal servers.
Thank you so much for making so many fun and polished mods for us:steamhappy:!

Really cool, I'm excited to see how far modders can take this idea.
