================

Captain,

Today, the capitalist forces have launched an invasion attempt on Cuba. Under the guise of “liberation,” their true aim is to crush the revolution that stands as a symbol of resistance in the Caribbean.

The enemy fleet is moving swiftly, with several landing ships in their formation, each loaded with invasion forces and weaponry. Your task is to disrupt and destroy their landing capability—sink their landing ships before they reach Cuban shores.

The enemy fleet consists of amphibious landing ships, cruisers, destroyers and frigates, all supporting the invasion. Our forces have set up defensive positions along the coast, and Cuban troops are prepared to hold back any ground advance. But these preparations depend on you intercepting and neutralizing their amphibious force.

Primary Objective:

- Intercept and sink the enemy landing ships before they reach Cuba. Without their ground forces, the invasion will be crippled.

Secondary Objectives:

- Damage or disable additional high-value assets in the enemy fleet (such as aircraft carriers or cruisers), if possible, to diminish their air and fire support.

Intelligence Report:

- Enemy Composition: Multiple landing ships accompanied by frigates, destroyers and cruisers.

- Weather Conditions: Clear skies with moderate seas. Visibility is excellent, favoring early detection.

Operational Considerations:

- Avoid Detection: Use available cover and thermal layers to mask your approach. Striking from a position of surprise is crucial.

- Prioritize Landing Ships: The enemy’s air and surface escorts are a distraction from your main goal. Focus your resources on destroying the landing ships.

- Defensive Measures: Be prepared to counter aircraft threats with anti-air defenses. Enemy aircraft will attempt to intercept you once your position is known.

Rules of Engagement:

- Engage hostile ships on sight. Prioritize any vessel identified as a landing ship. Use any available weapons to destroy these targets.

- Avoid unnecessary engagement with escorting vessels if they do not interfere with the objective. Your mission depends on speed and focus.

Cuba’s defenders depend on you, Captain. Every landing ship you destroy is one less threat to the island. Make every strike count and return only when the enemy is crippled.

For Cuba, and for the revolution—good hunting.

Nice mission, but the lack of USAF or any air defense over US land is indeed a little weird.
At some point, I realised that I had left my TU16s loitering over Florida, I was like "Maybe I should move everyone to east side of the enemy fleet. Don't feel like I should be able to be here".

Okay, the AI doesn't know how to use carriers or bases - the game still feels very unpolished.
However, you can directly create Air Force or Navy airplane units.

@Thorn: If you deploy something 10x the size the game will run worse than the average Powerpoint presentation. I can't make something on that scale.

The AI doesn't know how to use carriers, so I didn't add one of the US since it wouldn't use it anyway. The same goes for airbases.

The scenario is set in the 60s, which is why you're still seeing modernized Gearings.

The scenario is very strange in terms of the units representing the forces of each side.
I understand the goal is to make the scenario at least theoretically winnable for the playable side, but in that case, there should at least be some explanation as to why the enemy has forces about 10 times smaller than what they would realistically deploy in such an operation.

The Soviet side is somewhat understandable—we fight with whatever they managed to transport across the ocean.
But the U.S.? It feels like the attack was planned by generals who suddenly lost their sense. No reconnaissance or air cover? (Oh right, there was one Orion.) Not even one aircraft carrier allocated for such an operation? Okay, let's assume the carriers are far away. But Florida is right there, with all its airbases and the U.S. Air Force!

Instead, they attack Cuba with four Gearing-class destroyers from World War II. Facepalm.

Someone else said it, there's something wrong with the TU16s won't fire their missiles for whatever reason. You can literally beat the whole mission with them, except not.

@IRanOutOfMilk yeah it happened where that little comma shaped inlet is on the otherside of the island. Just watched the Operations Room video on it

Tons of fun! I love getting a chance to see that janky-ass Echo class launch!

Wasn't the Bay of Pigs on the other side of Cuba?

great mission. had a lot of fun. the Echo II did it's job even if the rest of the Soviet fleet got pummeled. Mission accomplished.
