[For 1.8.x ONLY] Alternative Colonial Autonomy

Description
NOTE: This mod was intended for V1.8, with the release of 1.9 and the changes to colonial autonomy, there is no need for this mod anymore. It will not be updated for any new versions.

**************************************************************************************

This mod offers an alternative system for colonial autonomy to balance same continent colonization with other forms of expansion without weakening overseas colonialism with colonial nations.

Instead of having an autonomy floor of 50% in same continent colonies, all colonies complete at 50% autonomy (75% if on a different continent), and can decrease it to 0 over time. A short term penalty and a long term penalty to local autonomy are applied to colonies to simulate them slowly being settled over time. NOTE: The intention of the mod here is that the reduce autonomy button be disabled so long as the "Sparsely populated" modfier remains on a province, but it is impossible to mod this.

Early government forms will have largely static local authority until these penalties go away over time. Later forms of government can overcome the autonomy penalty.

Colonial nations start with an inate reduction to local autonomy that is capable of overcoming these penalties right away, so overseas colonization is not reduced in effectiveness. If a colonial nation gains independence from their overlord, they'll follow the same rules as all other nations.

I've also added a small bonus to local autonomy reduction for minor nations of 4 provinces or less that helps them reduce autonomy more quickly. This should let the tiny New World tribes establish a small heartland of profitable provinces.

The changes here are specifically for the new autonomy mechanics in 1.8, and offer my suggested changes for the system.

*******************************************

If you're unable to activate the mod, try opening the .mod file with a plain text editor (like Notepad, don't use Word) and add this line to the end of the doc if it isn't already there:

supported_version="1.8"

You're welcome, though the mod is now redundant. If you don't want to lose the game, you can always change the version number for the mod yourself and copy over the new defines file. You'll have some strangeness because of the conflicting colony mechanics, but you'll be able to continue playing at least.

Aww. We were in a fun mp game, and when we loaded back into it without the mod random provinces started loosing their cores and turning into uncolonized provinces with 0 basetax and no natives for me as Prussia :D sad to abandon it, but meh. Thanks for the fun mod while it lasted.

Was going to do this myself when I noticed this mod, thanks a bunch, this system is the way forward. Gutted because AOW was great except for the autonomy changes. Rated

@humeq, you just need to merge the defines.lua in /common to merge the changes from the Alternative Colonial Autonomy to Extended Timeline, then copy the rest of the folders from the Alternative Colonial Autonomy mod into Extended Timeline

I have to edit the defines to eliminate the autonomy floor, this is the same file that includes the start and end dates. There is no way around this, you'll have to edit the define file in the mod yourself to extend the timeline.

This mod seems to be cancelling out any time extension mod... Please fix? *-*

Any direct download for the mod? Steam workshop is screwy for me.
