Description
HEY IMPs, this mod ports the halo 3 campaign to the ODST engine and sets it to nighttime. some extra changes too.
For this level you play as the Johnson, he was ascended to chief. That or u could say everyone has dementia and think u the chief.
I recommend to play on heroic.
FYI, this is my interpretation of how the base would look like running on emergency generators.
changes
  • New start cinematic!
  • players are ODSTs and less taller
  • Its nighttime
  • the chief is death, there are extra elites.
  • Johnson stays with the chief so brute howl is skipped.
  • added odst weapons, dmr, aug and m73 mg
  • BR now has recoil
  • Its nighttime
  • removed cortana moments
  • grenade limit increased to 3
  • added extra brutes and engineers.
  • Its nighttime
  • new marine added with a beret
  • brutes are generally stronger and have diferent colors
  • added new fp animations
  • changed lighting
  • switched brute hammer encounter
  • more enemies, but you have more allies and they follow you in places they dont in retail.
  • added just add nauseam as a soundtrack :)

I can see why this level was not originally set in the dark, you need the VISR to see most of anything and get blinded half of the time due to the dynamic lights from enemies (and the environmental lights). Then, there's Lord Hood being on his head during his call. Then, most automatic UNSC weapons having the same flaws than in Retail ODST which makes most brutes a pain to fight (plasma weapons are more effective but much less cool.) I noticed (painfully) that some environmental covers block your line of sight (VISR IFF too) while allowing you to get shot while behind it.
I can see someone took notes of the Tacticool Mod. Nice. Not sure if the new Marine comments are from the Mod or the skull, nice anyway. Like the choice of music as well. Though the addition of immortal companions make some sections trivial to pass through (on Heroic too)

Prefer the look of the night time halo 3 mod by ElectricalSmith because of all the dynamic shadows. I do like the extra stuff from this mod like the elites and scenery but I feel the atmosphere could be a million times better with shadow casting enabled on light sources. Is that something that can be done in odst's engine?

Sgt. Johnson is smoking two cigars in the cutscene, twice as cool as the vanilla Johnson.

So, first of all: I really liked this level ^^
-the inclusion of ODSTs and Elites following you through certain sections was amazing, really loved that, but upon reaching the Ops Center and arming the bomb... your squad just dies. I think that could need some fixing.
-I love the buffed accuracy of the DMR, it feels amazing to use.
-a bug I've noticed upon reaching the tunnel with the exploding warthog, was that my AUG disappeared from my inventory as soon as I hit a checkpoint. this happened as soon as I backtracked from the hangar as well
-I love Lord Hood's awkward silence during the cutscene
