TW - Endless EXP

Description
Version 1.0.0 Stable

Do you feel limited or uncomfortable by no longer learning from new battles? Do you avoid overwhelming numbers because they place you at risk for little to no gain? Do you want a little more consistent XP overall but other mods seem too overpowered? Then this mod might be for you!

Endless Experience!
There are a few mods that change XP rates, either ensuring a minimum of at least 1 XP, or changing how XP scales for a few tiers. This one is a little different:
  • Base XP is reduced to 80% (To compensate for it being easier to get overall).
  • XP is halved for each tier you're stronger than your opponent, but never below 1 XP.
  • XP is increased by a quarter for the square root of tiers weaker than your opponent.
  • Tier differences scale endlessly, no matter how strong you or your opponent are.
  • The mod lists the % of XP you earned, so you know how much the mod is affecting it.

These changes should only affect tier-based XP, such as combat. Secrets, books, and quests should remain the same as before.

XP Rates per Tier difference (Vanilla/Mod)
  • -4: 0% / 5%
  • -3: 0% / 10%
  • -2: 10% / 20%
  • -1: 50% / 40%
  • 0: 100% / 80%
  • 1: 100% / 100%
  • 2: 100% / 109%
  • 3: 100% / 117%
  • 4: 100% / 125%

Compatibility
This mod should work with any mod that doesn't change how XP is given to the player. It won't work if they changed the Experience.cs file.

Notes:
I toyed with some other formulas, but this one gave me the most personally comfortable progression from levels 1 to 30. Nonetheless, I am a very inexperienced programmer, so I will keep this one simple for now. If I find the time to learn, I'll attempt to include multiple formula choices within a single mod and add (reduced) XP for normally XP-less summoned creatures as well.

Im not getting any errors but it still doesnt seem to be working as I did just kill some trivial enemies without receiving any XP

My best guess is that CoQ no longer allows replacing base game C# files (It's throwing a type error with the base game). Meaning I'll need to use Harmony to patch the existing Experience.cs file.

Apologies for the delay on updating as I'll be learning Harmony from scratch.

Thanks for the notification! I'm looking into it now.

really been enjoying this mod! unfortunately the latest game update broke it

Latest update looks like it broke this, throwing a type error, even when it is the only mod loaded

I've found that by the time you're getting 10% or less, you get more EXP from books, but it probably is a buff for more combat heavy builds or through various exploits... Then again, a lot of the game is exploitable that late in the game.

It does slow down early game EXP though which a few people (myself included) have found feels "nice" since level ups seem so front loaded by default. Between that and getting something other than 0 exp when over-leveled, consider it a feels-good mod. I did label it as a cheat out of fairness! :fhappy:

5% and 10% in the trivial tiers is highly exploitable...but IG the entire game is like that. Personally this looks like a huge buff to xp overall but only at the top end where getting any xp is difficult. Getting 10% would feel huge in those cases.

great thanks

Short answer: Yes

I did not notice any issues adding or removing this mod mid-save. Probably because it doesn't change anything about the world or character, only EXP as it is given.
