(Kindrad's Performance Mods): Lowpoly Environment Models

Description
A significant portion of Kenshi's rendering time is spent rendering terrain and the environment. This mod replaces hundreds of environment models with lower polygon versions to greatly improve performance. All models were replaced with hand tailored variants to minimize loss of fidelity. If you want better performance with negligable visual difference this mod is for you.

Credits
Overwhelming shout out to Hoser for volunteering time to help edit models. Hoser contributed a massive 376 models.

What to Expect:
This mod replaces environment models with lower polygon versions. The decreased polygon count should lead to significantly higher framerate for an GPU bound system.
  • This mod does not reduce the amount of models on screen.
  • This mod does not change items, building, or character models. It only alters environment props such as trees, rocks, and clutter.
  • The models are hand tailored to minimize visual impact, there will be some moderate quality loss though it's usually negligible.
  • For GPU bound computers it might lead to potentially massive gains, one tester was getting 50% more fps with a GTX 1080. Lesser systems can expect even greater uplift. The uplift will vary greatly depending on settings and hardware.
  • To use simply Subscribe and Enable.

What it Changes:
  • Replaces environment models with lower polygon versions.

General Mod Compatability
  • Tested to work with Genesis and UWE
  • If you run into compatibility issues try to move it lower in the load order, the lower the better for this mod.
  • It's unlikely to conflict with other performance mods such as FASTR, Biome Edits, Clean and Speed, Less Foliage, Remove Swamp Vines, Less/No Clutter, (various) texture mods etc.
  • It's also compatible with my own mods.

Yo holy shit dude, this mod DRAMATICALLY lowered my game loading time. My Quadro Nvidia P2000 render card still took usually about a minute to load the game on loading a save file, this lowered a near minute wait every time to 10 seconds!

You're a life saver!

Will you consider making it for buildings, characters and items
I dont mind loss in quality, in fact im trying to make everything kind of low poly for the retro look

@Arrowthebest
Sorry for late reply, been away offline for awhile. This mod is primarily focused environment models like trees and rocks. It will probably work along side.

Mods that load after (lower in order) will override previous mod content. So it's not that this mod won't work with other mods. It should in theory work with any mod even with conflicts. Just the last mod to load "gets the final say" for which model to use.

I hope that helps.

Does this work with the Pretty Stuff mod from JaxiPaxi? That changes like, in-door type items like the cups and jugs and other gear. Does this mod also touch that stuff in a way that would conflict?

Also, not to be bothersome, but some before and after pictures and other illustrative examples would be very nice if you are able to add them there.

It does work with texture options. It'll work with the other texture replacement mods too.
