Description
Plague Knight explodes into Rivals of Aether!

Plague Knight bursts onto the Rivals of Aether scene with a tricky zoner playstyle, opting to chuck as many bombs as he can in his opponent’s face. His movement is fairly average, but has select burst movement options and a powerful movement tool in the form of Bomb Bursting. While his projectile game can be overwhelming and his options can be unpredictable, he is decently lightweight and recovering with him can be somewhat tricky when incorporating Bomb Bursting. Mastering Plague Knight’s mechanics and movement tools will allow you to zip around almost like in the original game with almost nothing to stop you in your way.

Down Special: Powder Management
Plague Knight can alter the properties of the bombs thrown with his other specials. You can choose a powder by flicking either the control or right stick in a cardinal direction. All bomb types have a maximum of 1 thrown at a time, with the exception of the default powder.
Black: Standard, has no unique traits. Sends upwards.
Sparkler: Loses a contact hitbox but produces constant strong hitboxes that start bigger for a short period and become smaller and polite later (only deal hitstun to opponents already in hitstun).
Cascade: Produces an ember upon detonation, which erupts into a sea of other flames when landing. Ideal for K.O.s.
Cluster: Produces a series of large multi-hitting explosions.

Neutral Special: Bomb Throw
Plague Knight’s main attack in the original game. Bombs can be further altered by holding a direction before throwing them:
Bounce Casing (No Direction/Neutral/Forward): Throws bombs at a normal angle when grounded, and at a 45 degree downward angle when airborne.
Lob Casing (Up): Chucks bombs overhead, covers a wide area.
Float Casing (Down): Initially goes downwards but floats back up. Certain powders will make this detonate earlier.

Forward Special
Similar to one of his moves in his boss fight, Plague Knight will teleport forwards then reappear, chucking a bomb downward.
You can angle this move up or down.
In addition to reappearing after reaching the set distance, the same will happen upon reaching an opponent.
Press parry after vanishing to reappear prematurely. You retain your current speed, but go into pratfall.

Bomb Burst
Hold SPECIAL after NSPECIAL or FSPECIAL finishes to start charging a Bomb Burst. Once Plague Knight starts to flash, release the button to go flying and leave lingering explosions where you released it. You can also cancel almost any action with a Bomb Burst (with a few exceptions), allowing Plague Knight to utilize this in many unique ways in combination with his normals. You can’t throw bombs or use other SPECIAL moves when charging a Bomb Burst.

Up Special: Staff of Surging
One of Plague Knight’s Arcana. This move serves as a recovery tool, sending you upwards and dealing multihit damage and knockback. Has a strong finishing hitbox but can be easily SDI’d out of.

Other Notable Moves:
Dash Attack
A spinning dash before an explosion. Leaves Plague Knight in the air after it ends, setting up for aerial combos. Can go off ledges if started on one.

Up Strong: Fleet Flask
One of Plague Knight’s Arcana. Ground-to-air strong attack, similar to Ori’s USTRONG. Can be charged to go further than normal, but is pretty punishing on whiff. Try doing a DACUS with this move to slide and rise more, especially near a ledge…

Back Air
Sends Plague Knight backwards with a fast kick. A very strong part of his combo game at low percentages, since some of his moves can easily link into it and be followed up with after this move. If you land on the ground just before the hitbox comes out, you’ll actually slide across the ground for some interesting movement opportunities.
