Description
What is this ?! Didnt you already made Vanguard before ? Why the re-release ?

Well, ever since some point, i have no idea when, the mod became impossible to build in SDK, i looked thru what to do but it seems to be my-PC drive problem, probably caused by me moving the SDK kit to another drive, i dont know TLDR - its easier if i remake the thing from scratch

WHAT HAS CHANGED
- Playable Vipers mod is NO LONGER REQUIRED, as i shamelessly included a derivate of the Sidewinder perk (now called Bullet time) in the class mod itself, why i did not do that before ? Well before, Vanguard was my first mod, ever when i couldnt do ♥♥♥♥ beyond configs, now i can alot more, just check out my other mod, E.P.A.
- Vanguards no longer gain defence, ablative HP and gain HP and will properly, no more paper thin soldiers that are never attacked by Advent (which was counter productive in reality)
- All 3 MSGT perks are now functional (no longer bugged ammo cost)
- 3 new LCPL super perks that lets you define who the Vanguard will be at first rank up (Assault-Tank-Multi attack high mobility)
- Stronger perk tree overall

DO I DISABLE THE OLD ONE ?!
YES, this one completely replaced the old one - you can then respecc already existing Vanguards and they get the new tree (even mid campaign)

MJ/TJ ?
Use one of them as it contains balancing Vanguard was designed in (Also changes to shields)

Summary
  • Vanguards are short range soldiers, they can only equip the shotgun. They are also semi-heroic (Similar to Iridars Stormriders), so you cannot train them in the GTS, you can only get them as rewards or as random promotions (Or if you use Commanders Choice, then thats another way to get them). This is done to make them feel slightly more special and also for balance reasons - be wary, smoke grenades and other non-dangerous actions could pre-emptively proc it on Vanguard - even from his own team mates !.
  • Vanguards are not tanks as their primary purpose, but they can serve as one when needed. They can take empty secondary weapon slot to get 15% mobility boost. A shield, which would make them unflankable and provide them with superb defences, or a pistol.
  • Vanguards do not get pistol slot like most LWOTC classes, they can equip it as secondary weapon instead. This was done for both balancing reasons and...animation reasons too.
Innate abilities
Bullet Time - The main ability of Vanguards, every 3 turns they will turn a hit in to a miss and gain a movement only point as interupt action. They can move away, towards enemies, but perks like Blitz Kick (From Stormriders) can be used too.
Slugshot - The only long range attack of Vanguards outside of using pistols.
Infighter - Vanguards are hard to reliably hit from close range
Implacable - Killshots with shotgun give movement only AP

Perks
LCPL - Through The Front Door, Guardian Spirit, Blitz Kick
CPL - Center Mass, Aggresion, Zone of Control
SGT - Burial Shot, Engarde, Focus
SSGT - Run and Gun, Riposte, Close Quater Specialist
TSGT - Full Throttle, Hit and Run, Cool Under Pressure
GSGT- Chain Shot, Double Time, Adrenaline
MSGT - Unload, Super Shredder Shot, Shotgun Wedding.

Don't know what MJ/TJ means. I have the ballistic shield mod with the skin mod, but whatever filter I toggle, I can't find this shield. So frustrating. Thank you for replying.

Its really just ballistic shield, if you are playing MJ/TJ they are called Guardian Shields

Where do you get this shield? I have the shield mod and the mod to use ghost template/skins, and I can't find this shield anywhere!!!

@ Mrcevz. I like the class. I however noticed the Vanguard class appearing as an error many times in the lauch log :
After I checked, I found out the Class allows pistols and sidearms (in the XcomClassData.ini) but pistols are also excuded (in the XcomLWOverhaul.ini), on the basis that the Vanguard has either a shield or a pistol.
I don't know whether this is a problem or not, but it does appear as an error and this is the only explanation I can guess.

Shout out, Mrvecz, hah. I switched to LW2 the... literal hour it dropped back in Jan2017 and only tinkered with WotC a bit when it came out and later for mods. Been LW2 then LWotC about 98% of the time.

WOTC is such a distant memory for me at this point that i have no clue about what could be considered "balanced" as my brain is fully wired with LW2/LWOTC concepts and numbers.
If someone is brave for it, they can make WOTC version of this class
