Description
Campaign addon for Trooper Firefight - 2024

READ ME!
Finishing a level then transitioning to the next will break audio.
This is a problem with the Halo engine's handling of custom sounds.
Return to the lobby and load the next mission manually to fix this problem.

Zooming in with weapons will not work if your 3rd Person FOV setting is too high. Lower gradually until it works for you. Screen resolution and size might affect what setting you need.





Mod is best played on Legendary difficulty.

-Halo Reach NOBLE-6 [Spartan]
Custom missions will be added in the future.






Custom weapon list:
-M247 General Purpose Machine Gun (Fast firing, caliber 7.62x51mm, can overheat)
-M73 machine gun (Slower firing, caliber 9.5x60mm, doesn't overheat)
-MA37 3 round burst, with underbarrel grenade launcher
-MA37 with optic and suppressor
-MA37 3 round burst/semi auto with foregrip and optic
-MA37 HBAR with thermal optic
-M7 SMG, suppressed and unsuppressed
-M6 PDW (Pistol with extended mag, stock, and full auto)
-XM510 grenade launcher (7 round semi auto grenade launcher)
-MA5B
-MA2B (10mm AP rifle caliber carbine)
-BR55 HBAR
-M6C/SOCOM
-SRS-99 suppressed (Silenced sniper rifle)
-RPG with homing missile
-Semiauto 12 gauge shotgun (Smaller caliber than standard shotgun)
-M90 CAWS shotgun with suppressor, red dot. Loaded with armour piercing slugs.
-M392 Kurz (DMR with short barrel, laser sight, 30 round magazine, full auto)
-M392 DMR in LMG configuration (drum mag and bipod)
-M392 DMR with suppressor and ironsights
-Single shot disposable anti-tank HEAT round RPG


Known bugs:
-ONI: Sword Base ending sometimes gets bugged with Covenant aircraft refusing to spawn and the Corvette's animations bug out.
-Finishing a level then transitioning to the next will break audio. Return to the lobby and load the mission manually. Might not be noticeable at first but once the high pitched distorted sounds start playing you will.

The Package mission is pushing the limits of the Halo engine

Any time I tried adding new weapons or enemies the map would literally refuse to compile or the compiler would crash.

That’s why a lot of mods that change the campaign will split The Package into two separate levels - I don’t really know how to do that so I just left it pretty barebones.

Top tier mod. Would love to see a marine campaign. Having a weird issue maybe... All my armor appears to disappear when playing though.

when can we play through the whole campaign as a trooper instead of noble 6?

I get that, like I said its your mod and you can do as you wish just giving honest feedback that something about the camera feels "floaty" in 3rd and kind of throws off the feel/flow of it. HUD definitely is disorienting just again seems... odd, like its simulated screenshake at its core, but just seems a bit excessive given the increased RoF enemies have as well.
For direct hits though honestly its a great touch to actually have your character flinch as such. Like I said overall yea bravo you did a good mod, just letting you know from an outsider's view that you added some real divisive choices that can alienate popularity or even actual playability for some people with motion sickness and still look forward to any future work, keep it up and make it how you want, just feedback to consider is all.

1st person isn’t happening unfortunately because I don’t want to spend days creating brand new custom animations for the 1st person models and also I just love 3rd person games.

The HUD effects are to disorientate the player and simulate being suppressed by enemy fire/explosions, not because of any sci-fi magic about electromagnetism. Purely to handicap the player and make them play more carefully.


I’m glad you like the mod and I would like to get around to making mods of a similar feel for Halo 1, 2, and 3 and those ones will be 1st person.

I do have one 1st person version of Trooper Firefight on the workshop but it’s just 1 map and more of a demo.

Gave it another try after months and months, third person is still the big deal breakers because it just feels like the camera is too "floaty" not to mention armor effects on your dude is annoying, and the HUD static is just bad. "but its EM interference from the plasma" except it happens even when not hitting you, inside a metal-composite faraday cage known as mjolnir armor specifically meant to be EM/plasma resistant, protected by your own EM shield... yea...

I get it mod author, this is your personal take on the game, but really wish there was an option for 1st/3rd camera most of all and for any of your future projects. I love the increased range the AI has, love the added weapons and their projectile speed changes, Revenant actually is a reasonable threat now that its charge flies faster than a balloon, warthog driving is a bit too low-gravity/flippy, but can live with that, an objectively fun mod but definitely missed the mark for "play feel" due to cam issues and some physics.
