From deep beneath the earth to the dark clouds in the sky, over the remains of one of the finest urban centers, the Citadel stands taller than any structure known to Mankind as the main symbol of the Combine hegemony over Earth, crushing any hope for human freedom by its sheer imposing sight.

Earth, a planet once dominated by the human species, is now but a tiny, irrelevant fraction of the ever-expanding Combine domain.



Hey folks!

This is a recreation of the Citadel from Half Life 2, made from props and published as a Save.
The exterior was made accurate as much as possible, and the interior with creative liberties.

Originally it was meant to be a dupe, but it was too laggy.
Therefore it is being posted as a Save, which has a better FPS performance.

Citadel (Exterior)

There is an entirely made and decorated exterior, as well as complementary details.

Railways: Connected to the three sides of the Citadel, they bring cargo through trains from across City 17 and nearby locations.

Walls: Surrounding the entire Citadel, this imposing mechanical façade protects the Citadel from ground attacks.
Soldiers in watchtowers observe from afar, and can sound the alarm in case of an eminent ground invasion.


Citadel (Interior)

There is an entirely made interior, and you will find Elevators that help you navigate more easily.
They also give you amazing views of the interior.

Earth Administrator's Office: As Dr. Breen's office, it is a luxurious and crutial location at the top most of the Citadel.

Dark Fusion Reactor: As one of the two main sources of energy present in the Citadel, it powers the Combine Teleporter.

Airwatch Landing Area: The main sector for the landing of Hunter Choppers and Gunships, it contains the communication center of the Airwatch.

Pod Storage: A large section of the Citadel, dedicated to the storage, transportation and maintenance of the pods, which contain Stalkers.

Railway Control Center: The cargo of the trains are transported and storaged, which mostly consists of new pods, weaponry, vehicles and equipments.

Core: As the main source of energy, it provides power to all sectors of the Citadel.

More Details

Sunset: The sunset effect was made thanks to the awesome dupe "Sunset", by Aurora.

Height: According to my ultra high tech calculations, this Citadel has an approximate height of 640 meters (0.4 miles). In other words, although it is a quite tall dupe, it is still FAR from the real estimated height of the in-game Citadel.
Sources vary, but its height may go from 2.5 km up to 8km (1.5 up to 5 miles).

(Note: In case you are having errors in the save, see if you have Half Life 2 in the steam library)
(Many props from HL2 were used, and without the game, it may cause errors)

Important Note

I have just discovered that Viktor Antonov, former Art Director of Half Life 2 and responsible for pretty much all artistic aspects of the game passed away on February 16th, 2025. Because this save depicts one of his most iconic creations, I believe it is fair to pay him the deserved respect. Rest in peace, Viktor.

hey, i got this error when I try loading it:

@rgary Hey no problems

You'll find the Citadel in the game menu in the section "Saves" and then "Subscribed"
(it is a save made on the map "gm_flatgrass")

You can also spawn the citadel if you load the vanilla gm_flatgrass, press "Q" to open the menu and then click on "Saves" at the top of the window. It should appear for you in the option "Subscribed"

Do you have Half Life 2 in your steam library? The citadel uses a lot of props from HL2, and it may cause texture errors without the game

For me it becomes really reflective when I play gmod in an older -dxlevel, probably because of the textures. When playing in the new version, it becomes normal

i'm confused, i can't find the full citadel anywhere in the spawning list and i only see parts of the citadel, do i have to build it or something because i'm so confused why you have to do that.
