TW - Ambitions Overhauled

Description
Version 3.14.* Initial Release
(Should work in older game versions if they use the current edict mechanics.)

Ascension Theory used to exist as a sink for Unity once you completed every Tradition Tree... but as the game has grown, so have the uses for Unity. Now once Ascension Theory is unlocked, turning on every Ambition is as simple as producing enough Unity. But what if choosing your Ambitions was a more engaging choice, and what if there was more choices to make?

Ambitions Overhaul
This mod does the following:
  • Adds 2 new Technologies - Ascension Formula (Physics) & Ascension Schema (Engineering).
  • All 3 Ascension technologies grant an Ascension perk and unlock up to 8 Ambitions to choose from. Some Ambitions may require other technologies, like Psionic Theory.
  • A 25th Ambition is unlocked on completing all 3 Ascension technologies.
  • Ambitions scale in cost based on total Ascension Perks (+1 base cost, from 25) and total active Ambitions (+20% per). Initially, this makes them cheaper, with 8 Ambitions & 7-8 perks having about the same cost as in vanilla. Running more will quickly see the upkeep increase!

Compatibility
Without increasing the Ascension Perk cap, Perks still cap at 8 instead of 10. Overwrites the original Ambition Edicts so Ambitions load in order. Other mods that rely on the vanilla Ambitions may need a patch. No other files were harmed.

Planned Features
Gestalt swaps for Hives and Machine Networks. Swaps for different Ascension Paths. Options to change how many Ascension Perks are available with an in-game menu. More interesting Ambitions (Worried that more than 25 could feel "cluttered")

Languages

Known Issues
Hive Minds and Machine Networks use the same Ambitions. They have a few swapped descriptions and effects planned but are not ready for release yet.
Ambition cost & upkeep does not update without leaving and re-entering the menu. Cost is meant to be predictive of your *actual* upkeep (before edict upkeep modifiers). Sadly this is a vanilla UI limitation.

It's still around with the exact same requirements as the 2 new techs. If you're using More Ascension Perks, the mod works as normal but you might get the repeatable too many times. I'm planning to add some built in compatibility with that mod after 4.0

The mod should only break mods that affect the vanilla ambitions, not the vanilla ascension theory technology.

Just to confirm: The Ascension Theory tech is still around right? I've got a mod that turns it into a repeatable for extra AP slots. I've so far seen I believe two different techs that unlocked ambitions for me, but they were different than Ascension Theory

Anything that relies on the vanilla ambitions (not on Ascension Theory itself) will break because I had to re-create them to make the UI look nicer.

Because of that, if there is any other popular mod that does rely on a vanilla classic ambition, I'll make an early compatibility update.

Thank you for the swift response! Much appreciated

Good question! The original tech is still in the game, so any edict/ambition that relies on Ascension Theory will work as normal as a classical (not overhaul style) Ambition.

I plan to add built-in compatibility for the "More Ascension Perks" mod. I'll look into doing the same for Planetary Wonders post 4.0 release.

Do you know if this mod has automatic incompatibility with anything adding their own Ambition edicts? For example, the Planetary Wonders mod adds its own edict. Will that stay a simple Edict, or will it be broken with the addition of this mod?
