Cho's Improved Garrisons

Description
This mod aims to make settlement battles matter more and feel worthwhile to play out, whether they will be played on the field, inside the settlements themselves or a full on siege battle.

Vanilla garrisons are somewhat weak and often lack commanders in the form of heroes or doesn't add intressting or particularly usefull units.

Features:

- Additional base garrison units for both minor and major settlements, on average 1 extra unit have been added per settlement tier.

- More garrison now have hero commanders added back in.

- Fixes to some garrison casters missing spells.

- Additional garrison units from garrison and walls buildings, on average 1 extra unit have been added per building tier..

- Newly added defensive buildings and re-added buildings such as the 'Reiksfort'.

- Garrisons units gained from some Allied outposts have been tweaked.

- Additional garrison units can be gained from certain military buildings.

- Replaces some vanilla garrison units with better fitting/more useful units for defense.

- Additional unit summoning abilities for some defensive buildings.

- Slight rebalance to the priority of units to help stronger units not be pushed out by weaker ones when there are more then 20 units in the garrison.

For additional garrison units from Landmark buildings please check out my Improved Landmarks mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2809221304

FAQ
Q: Is it compatible with x mod?
A: Mod should work with most other mods as long as they don't overwrite the tables this mod uses.

Q: Does it require a new campaign?
A: Can be turned on mid campaign, it will take a turn for the new units to arrive at the garrisons.

Q: Does it work with SFO?
A: Likely not very compatible with SFO since that mod has its own garrison overhaul and other various changes.

Q: Does mod work with the IEE or Old World campaign mods?
A: Yes it works just fine, but custom factions and/or settlement types may not benefit from changes depening on how they are set up.

@Choyi I just noticed that myself today and was about to write I stand corrected, you beat me to it! :)

@KoffenStoffen not sure why it wouldn't work? The mods should not alter the same data tables at all if the other mod only makes changes the in battle buildables.

nice!

anyone played this with ovn factions, teb or norse dwarfs? do their garrisons stand out as significantly, maybe slightly weaker or does it work ok? maybe someone made a sub-mod for some of them factions? cheers guys

@Blackbeard147 if you build up the settlement, with Garrison building, other Defensive building and/or Military recruit building, you should end up with 19-20 units for most factions settlements.

@Choyl would it be possible to make a garrison mod that makes every settlement to have a full 20 garrison

@Trepen0004 hope it is to your liking then.
This has been a project that I worked on over the last year, trying to keep it balanced and intressting while keeping it thematic for each race and not straying too far from vanilla has been my overall goal.

Ok, sounds like it might just be what I am looking for as some of the others are either too large or a bit inconsistent. Will try it out on my next play.
Choyi  [author] 25 Feb @ 10:30am
@Trepen0004 just a bit larger then vanilla, all my mods aim to retain the overall experience from the base game, just improved and enhanced.

In most cases the main settlement building have gained 1-2 extra units per tier and the garrison building 1 unit per tier.

An additional unit can be gained from certain other 'defensive' buildings such as the discovery building or military recruitment chains such as barracks and similar.

Does this make garrisons much larger than vanilla or just a bit larger? There are a few garrison mods so trying to work out how it compares
