Everything looked good at first on the Island of Corruption and the troops of the mad General Malcom W. Granger seemed to be retreating. Confident of victory, the Steel Eagles under the nameless commander became reckless and eventually they were surrounded by Granger's troops. The battle... was lost. Captured by this madman, he and his men were imprisoned. A few days later, the commander was brought to the Island of Chaos to be taken to a nearby prison for interrogation and... perhaps worse.

But there is still hope, because shortly before reaching the prison, a missile from a Brotherhood of Nod soldier's bazooka hit the prisoner transporter. The commander managed to free himself, albeit wounded, grabbed his EVA unit and jumped out of the car before it exploded. No sooner had he strapped on his EVA unit than he found himself surrounded by Brotherhood soldiers and also by Granger.
