Description

The mod began as a necessity and turned out to be a passion project with dozens of people involved.

After watching Dune: Part II I got inspired to start my own run with some Dune-themed mods. Still sitting at the cinema, I was absolutely sure of the abundance of Dune-related mods for Rimworld. In my mind it was a no-brainer, a sci-fi setting with psyonic powers, despotic empire, factions fighting for influence over the planet and, of course, genetic tailoring. 

It was beyond disappointing for me to find that these mods did not exist, just as my perfect Dune-inspired Rimworld run.

Since then, I have been slowly turning my frustration into action. I couldn’t get rid of a thought about creating a high-quality modpack fitting the high standard of this game’s modding community, with fancy graphics, decent balance and vanilla-friendly vibes. 

This vision has brought together a team of friends and like-minded people who have managed to work together to create the first iteration of this project.

Even though this mod doesn't bring any changes to the game's mechanics, it adds a whole new set of armour and weapons to the game which are always a great addition to any Rimworld run, at the same time setting the stage for developing a larger series of mods in the future.

As it’s our first mod, we didn’t set unrealistic goals to overhaul the entire game and decided to take it one thing at a time but make them as perfect as we could, much like the Vanilla Expanded series. 

We are infinitely happy to make our contribution to this game’s community and hope that you will enjoy playing this mod as much as we enjoyed making it. If you do, please check out our roadmap and join our Discord server down below.

Q: Can I add this mod to an existing save?
A: Yes, you also can easily remove it mid-game.

Q: Is it compatible with Combat Extended?
A: Well, we waited for this one. It is CE compatible!

Q: Is it compatible with A,B,C.?
A: Yes, mod should not cause any troubles since it’s just adds new armour and weapons

Q: Will you update this mod?
A: Yes, we will update it and apply various balance changes along the way. We’re just getting started.

Q: Will you be doing other houses and mechanics?
A: Absolutely yes! See our roadmap and read more in “Support” section.

Q: X doesn’t match lore of Dune in A,B,C.
A: We do our best to make it as close to lore as possible, at the same time making it fun to play the game. There are also some technical complications with implementing certain features (like lore-accurate shields) and we’re also working on clearing that out over time.

This mod is just the beginning of a series of mods focused on bringing the Dune universe into our favourite game. 

Our next steps consist of adding more armour and weapon packs for various factions, followed by dune mechanics, buildings, styles and finally, the vehicles. As we are a brand new team, we don’t want to aim unrealistically high and instead take it step by step to keep the quality and consistency on the highest possible level. 

The list of potential features that can be added to the game is huge and it thrills us to even think that these features can be added to the game:

  • Needle Projectiles
  • Deep Shield Mechanics
  • Bene Gesserit Powers

...and that’s just what first comes in mind.

Added full vacuum resistance to Executioner Armour and Scout Armour.

Blacktrooper Armour has partial vacuum resistance.

Is anyone seeing thingClass errors for ammo or weapons in this mod?

Config error in Ammo_ROD_Rifle: has null thingClass.

Looking at the XML in the mod, I don't see a thingClass defined but, strange I'm the only one seeing it.

ngl after playing dune awakening I kinda been thinking about trying to mod my own dune mods. Might wait for that new dlc thou, see if I can use its resources to make sandcrawlers and carryalls
