Description
Vanilla | No Mods | No Script | No DLC

A very small printer for printing large grid ships up to 50 blocks long in survival mode. Quick and easy to build and configure. Does not depend on timers, the print speed is determined by the speed of the welding wall piston, which can be set to match the welding speed in the world settings. Works in space.

Build and programming is described in a separate manual. Watch the video on Reddit.

Specification
PCU: 917 (2435)
Blocks: 52 (177)
Size (LWH): 8.25 x 7.5(32.5) x 12(17) m

* values given in parentheses include the weld wall

Modules
2 Battery
2 Projector
2 Piston
1 Rotor
7 Magnet Plates
1 Welder (+8 weld wall)
2 Timer
4 Event Controller

The printer is connected to the base via one free conveyor port. The print height is determined by the height of the welding wall. The blueprint is published with the Locust Light Raider ship. Print size 90 x 42.5 x 15 m. The percentage of welded blocks is 92%, the rest are welded manually. You can test the printer in creative mode.

Modules sets quick list

Piston Ramp: Min/Max Distance = 0.5/3.05 m, Velocity = -1 m
Piston Wall: Min/Max Distance = 0/10 m, Velocity = -0.5 m (for creative mode)
Rotor: All values = 0, Displacement = -0.02, Rotor Lock = On, Share Inertia Tensor = On

Magent Large: Unlocked, Autolock = On
(Magnet Small): Locked, Autolock = Off

Event Ramp Fwd: Timer Ramp Start
Event Ramp Bwd: Lock (Magnet Small), Piston Wall Reverse
Event Wall Fwd: Unlock Magnet Large, Piston Ramp Reverse
Event Wall Bwd: Unlock Magnet Large, Piston Ramp Reverse
Timer Ramp: Unlock (Magnet Small), Piston Ramp Reverse

* (Magnet Small) is a group of 6 magnetic plates of a small grid

Not sure if this would work in gravity because the guide ramp oscillates too much. Gravity requires mergers, which is harder to build and automate.

Is there a ground based version of this for survival at all? Looks rad!

Thank you, I use this printer for survival on my PC. If you play on a server with a limitation of welders, then you can easily modify the printer. To do this, you need to extend the piston with the welding line as much as possible and attach a rotor on top, to which you need to attach 1/2 welding line and reprogram one event controller so that it extends the ramp after the rotor makes a full circle. Then this ship can be printed with 5 welders. Watch this video to understand the principle of modification - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdFcM6vMGB0

Mate, this is a remarkable piece of engineering.
It may not suit my needs right now as my welders are limited, but I am wildly impressed.

Nice work.
