XOF Unit

Description
Overview
This mod introduces a squad of XOF contractors along with Mother Base soldiers, Genome Soldiers and other units from the Metal Gear Solid saga.

This is my first mod (ever), and it's still a big pile of work in progress. There will be missteps, bugs, and room for improvement, but I'm working on it as much as I can during my free time.

Units
XOF Operatives – The covert strike force of Cipher, specialising in infiltration, direct action, and unconventional warfare. Equipped with state-of-the-art gear, these elite soldiers excel in high-risk operations.

Diamond Dogs – Troopers from Big Boss's army, ready to deploy in any theatre of operations.

Genome Soldiers – The Next-Generation Special Forces, also known as the Genome Army and Genome Soldiers, and nicknamed the Space SEALs, were a top secret United States Army black ops unit that specialised in counter-terrorism. They also served as reserve members of the Unit FOXHOUND.

Rat Patrol Team – is a surveillance unit monitoring PMCs during the Middle East conflict. Tasked with gathering intelligence, they work to uncover the hidden forces shaping modern warfare.

Gurlukovich Mercenaries – operate with brutal efficiency. Trained in Soviet-era tactics and equipped with rugged gear, they specialize in high-risk seizures, stealth insertions, and heavy assaults (not yet as a squad)

Unit Zero – A composite task force forged from the finest operatives across all units. Equipped with the full arsenal and gear of XOF, Diamond Dogs, Genome Soldiers, Rat Patrol, and Gurlukovich Mercenaries, Unit Zero is designed for maximum adaptability and mission flexibility. Whether stealth, assault, or recon—this unit is ready for anything.

Features
Multiple Camouflage Options: (28 camouflages at the moment)
  • Grey, Green, Black, White Snow, Jacket Brown, Diamond Dogs Kaki, Diamond Dogs desert, Biohazard Genome Soldier, Artic Genome Soldier, Assault Genome Soldier, Rat Patrol Unit, XOF Pilot, Gurlukovich TTsKO Brown/Mountain, Gurlukovich TTsKO Gray/Urban, a Stealth Camo, and more.

Gear & Equipment: (12 vests, 44 headgears at the moment)
  • CVC Helmets in White, Black, and Brown (clean and dirty versions).
  • Headsets & Gas Masks for all head-gears.
  • XOF Unit Gas Tank and radio Backpack for authenticity.
  • ABA XOF and Rat patrol team vest.
  • XOF Pilot helmet.
  • Biohazard, Artic and Assault Genome soldier headgears.
  • Airborn & Assault Gurlukovich mercenaries helmets.

Weapons: (40 weapons at the moment)
  • Custom MAC-10 with silencer and LZ42 laser sight, MRS4 suppressed, Famas F1, PSG1, P90, USP, Mk23 SOCOM
  • Additional weapons inspired by MGS lore, plus extra firearms not really MGS lore will be added for extra fire power.

Stealth Integration:
  • To fully utilise the Stealth Camouflage, pair the Stealth Camouflage device with the corresponding Stealth Headgear and Camo Suit for the best immersion. (still a lot of work in progress)
  • While waiting for the Stealth feature to be functional, I added the MGS Cardboard as a disguise feature, it is a placeholder feature, but might keep it in the future beside the Stealth device.

Fully Customised UI:
All unit portraits, icons, and interface elements have been carefully adapted to match the Metal Gear Solid aesthetic, recreating the feel of an XOF unit briefing room. Every detail—from character portraits to squad icons—has been designed to feel like part of a classified mission dossier straight from Cipher's covert operations.

Music:
This mod includes a selection of music tracks from the Metal Gear Solid series to enhance the immersive experience. Additionally, I've incorporated music from Avery Alexander, whose compositions blend perfectly with the atmosphere of tactical espionage and high-stakes operations.
You can check out Avery Alexander’s work here: Avery Alexander's YouTube Channel.

Additional Info
This mod is compatible with In-Game Camouflage Selector, allowing you to switch between different uniform types.

Work in Progress
  • Adding more weapons, equipments and gears
  • Make the stealth camouflage feature fully working with a stealth and non-stealth camo switch.
  • Keep refining the illustrations for each elements, weapons and gears.
  • I haven’t touched the Doctrine feature at all, zero, major Zero. I’ll be diving into it in the future, but for now, it remains completely untouched. I’ll also be exploring the extra clothing and support gear panels to expand customisation options and refine the unit even further.

@Ghost Cat That’s definitely one way to do it! But to make things more difficult for myself, I built an Extra Options menu and I'm currently working on adding a mod music toggle in there. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll definitely consider going with the music mod instead :)

@Grabin, amazing, thank you for your work
About the music, i think you can just split the mode, publish the version without music, and just the music

Hey @Ghost Cat, thanks for your feedback!

It sounds like you might be using an older version of the mod. The latest version already separates the squads and assigns unique weapons and gear to each. Give it a try!

About the doctrine trees: they’re definitely on the roadmap! But just to set expectations, it’s a huge amount of work to build them properly. It takes time to design something that fits both gameplay and lore, so they won’t show up overnight. But they’re coming!

Regarding the music: I hear you. Right now, there’s no way to make the menu music optional due to how the game handles mod files. It’s a known limitation, and something we’re actively discussing within the modding community to hopefully find a workaround in the future. For now, the only option is disabling the mod to revert to the vanilla music. Not ideal, I know.

Appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, it helps push the mod forward!

Also i don't like that it changes the vanilla music, should be optional. For now i have to disable the whole mod, to play without music.

Look like a mess right now. Separate them to different squads, separate the weapons and gear so it will be uniqe and lore frendly, and to be perfect make a different doctrine tree for each squad.

Hey @Loaf, added suppression fire to all rifles, enjoy!

Hey @Sckullchrusher! The trees are in the to do list! It will take some time to finalise the trees for each unit though, but it's in the work!

Hey @Khainin! Will definitely check this out! Thank you for you message, I'm glad you enjoy the mod and yes the tabs are past now! :)

may I suggest adding suppression ability to all guns in this mod, since I can't seem to find any MGs? I'm playing with the "doors aren't cover" mod and there are times i wish my guys could spray through the doors from which they are taking blind fire.
