@Ghost Cat That’s definitely one way to do it! But to make things more difficult for myself, I built an Extra Options menu and I'm currently working on adding a mod music toggle in there. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll definitely consider going with the music mod instead :)

About the music, i think you can just split the mode, publish the version without music, and just the music

It sounds like you might be using an older version of the mod. The latest version already separates the squads and assigns unique weapons and gear to each. Give it a try!

About the doctrine trees: they’re definitely on the roadmap! But just to set expectations, it’s a huge amount of work to build them properly. It takes time to design something that fits both gameplay and lore, so they won’t show up overnight. But they’re coming!

Regarding the music: I hear you. Right now, there’s no way to make the menu music optional due to how the game handles mod files. It’s a known limitation, and something we’re actively discussing within the modding community to hopefully find a workaround in the future. For now, the only option is disabling the mod to revert to the vanilla music. Not ideal, I know.

Also i don't like that it changes the vanilla music, should be optional. For now i have to disable the whole mod, to play without music.

Look like a mess right now. Separate them to different squads, separate the weapons and gear so it will be uniqe and lore frendly, and to be perfect make a different doctrine tree for each squad.

may I suggest adding suppression ability to all guns in this mod, since I can't seem to find any MGs? I'm playing with the "doors aren't cover" mod and there are times i wish my guys could spray through the doors from which they are taking blind fire.

@Grabin yep 28 is pretty wild. Try it out, map is called "lots of enemies go boom". Maybe 150-ish enemies.There is a control room at the beginning where you can detonate charges but I dont use it at all and just clear the houses with up to 28 members.

I do really like your mod and I get what you are trying to do. I find the tab system a little limiting but your mod, your vision and I respect that.

MOD UPDATE:

Main change, split units into different squads (XOF Unit, Diamond Dogs, Foxhound, Rat Patrol Unit, Unit Zero)

Loadouts have been redistributed across all units. But, Unit Zero, have everything!

Hey @Titor404! The loadouts in the mod are intentionally a mixed bag of old and modern, some players prefer classic weapons, others want fully equipped modern gear. To not create limitation and strike a balance, I’m including both.

My approach is to stay true to the full scope of the MGS timeline, which stretches from the 1930s all the way to 2018, so it’s not just about ’90s weapons. Each weapon I add is chosen with respect for the lore, and adding some creativity to it. My philosophy is to give every weapon a custom Tactical variant to add some more SOF gameplay.

As for the Praying Mantis PMC… don’t worry, they’re on their way to the battlefield ;)

The design of the mac10 with a silencer may lead to the perception that the model is twitching. Can we equip them with 90s weapons and equipment? The current weapons and equipment are too modern and very incompatible. Can you finally add PMC from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Hey @Shrodinger's Fechester, thank you so much for you comment! The weapon's list is in constant evolution, I'm adding them one by one. Right now my weapon philosophy is that I add one weapon and it's Tactical version. I haven't fully tackled the tactical props yet, but I will take care of it when I'm done with some heavy work for the next update, stay tuned!

Hey @metalfacedude, Right now, there’s only one squad, the XOF Unit, and it contains four tabs: XOF, Foxhound, Rat Patrol, and Diamond Dogs. At this stage, all four tabs share the same loadouts. You’ll find the Gurlukovich camos, headgear, and vests available across all of them!

This is the coolest team mod I have ever seen. However, I still want to ask if the XOF Unit can be equipped with more powerful rifles and so on. You can also add more items to the tactical props, such as airdrop units, medical equipment, etc. Come on! I really like your mod!:steamhappy:

love the mod, but would prefer it if the descriptions weren't AI generated. especially with supressors on guns, as stuff like silenced noise travel range is not mentioned. great mod otherwise!

Right now the mod uses a tab system, when you load into a mission with many operators, it pulls from all available units to fill the squad. But switching tabs limits it to only the operators in that tab, that’s just how the system works for now.
I’m working on some cool stuff for the next update that might improve this!

Amazing mod and I love it! Fantastic work! Is there any way to remove the 1 unit per mission limit? Currently trying to use the unit for a 28 man map that I got from the steam workshop. When the map loads in or I redeploy the squad, it places all 28 members, but if I click on any tab, they all vanish. Not a complaint, just a question.

I'm looking forward to what you do with the mod in the future and again, fantastic work!

Currently, there’s only one squad available, the XOF Unit. Within that squad, you’ll find different unit tabs, but for now, all units share the whole pool of weapons, gear, and equipment. I’m planning to make each unit have its own specific loadout in future updates, with unique weapons and gear.

Technically, there is no limit... But it remains a technical challenge to pack tabs. A modder posted some tabs template, I'm working on a solution to be able to easily add tabs and keep the whole Deploy structure intact. But rest assure, the Gurlukovich's tab is in the to do list

is there a limit of 4 on the amount of unit tabs you can use becuse it says Gurlukovich Mercenaries unit exist yes you can make the unit but there isent a unit tab for it

Hey @matr_ixwave! Thanks! The idea behind the tabs is to create some challenge by encouraging players to stick to one unit and its unique style. For now, all gear is shared across units, so you can still mix and match loadouts. In the future, I’m thinking of separating the loadouts for each unit, but only once there’s enough gear and weapons to make each one feel complete. I’m also definitely open to suggestions on how to make the tabs more interesting or meaningful to use!

Hey @LordKitten, unfortunately the BGM is attached to the mod itself. If you select/edit/play with a Squad, the bgm will change accordingly :)

This is honestly becoming one of my favourite mods for DK2. Any plans to add the new up-armored CVC in other colours besides white and blue? That colour combination is a bit too glaring for my tastes.

• Added Canted XOF stance animation

One known issue, already working on a fix (just couldn't wait to add the Sehalantropus support to the update): When using the Sehalantropus support, the googles are misaligned from the operator. The issue as been identified and a fix is in the work.
