Description
"We'z just warmin' up!"

Da biggest, meanest gobbo eva' is back. Eltharion the Grim wastes no time, as he prepares to face the Waaagh! of Grom the Paunch in battle on the shores of Yvresse.

Herald's Start Positions - Grom & Eltharion in Ulthuan is a dynamic start position mod which completely moves Grom and Eltharion to Yvresse in Ulthuan, in Immortal Empires and IE Expanded, for both the AI and the player. There are minor differences in the start positions based on the faction(s) controlled by the player(s).

Here are the main changes of this mod:

- Grom the Paunch and Eltharion the Grim start at war, both of them located in Yvresse in Ulthuan;
- Grom starts the campaign controlling the Shrine of Loec in Southern Yvresse when controlled by the player, all of Yvresse except for Tor Yvresse when Eltharion is controlled by the player, or the province of Southern Yvresse (Shrine of Loec, Cairn Thel and Elessaeli) when neither or both of the characters are controlled by the player(s) - in a multiplayer campaign in the latter case;
- inversely, Eltharion starts with most of Yvresse, except for the Shrine of Loec, when Grom is controlled by the player, only with Tor Yvresse when he is controlled by the player, and Northern Yvresse (Tor Yvresse and Tralinia) when neither or both of them are controlled by the player(s);
- the starting military forces of the Legendary Lords' factions have been adjusted and depend on the faction(s) controlled by the player(s);
- Massif Orcal, Grom's original starting settlement, and Quenelles are now owned by the Red Cloud Greenskins, the Fay Enchantress' starting enemy;
- the Skull Crag minor faction, Eltharion's original starting enemy, has been fully replaced by Grom's Broken Axe and Eltharion's Yvresse on the campaign map;
- Grom no longer starts at war with Aquitaine;
- Tyrion and Count Noctilus now start at war - a necessary change in order to avoid Tyrion and Eltharion teaming up against Grom very early in the campaign;
- Eltharion's dual start dilemma has been disabled;
- the starting mission lines and victory objectives for Grom and Eltharion have been adjusted to their new start positions.

I recommend using this mod alongside other Herald's Start Positions mods, and my other mods, as they are all being developed in conjunction.

This mod is fully compatible with Mixu's Unlocker and Immortal Empires Expanded. It was not developed keeping any new faction mods in mind. The Victory Conditions Overhaul mod overwrites the vanilla victory conditions, including the changes made by this mod.

Herald's Start Positions mod series should work with mods like SFO: Grimhammer III, which rebalance different aspects of the game, but generally do not touch the start positions of the factions.

Credits go to Porkenstein and Swissbob for the script framework which I'm using across my start position lua script mods.

Alright, thanks for that.

@Sarge Was that happening in Warhammer II? In any case, I don't have a lot of motivation to continue with my own modding either, so I don't have interest to make such changes, I'm sorry.

If you'd like to chat about the game, I invite you to join my Discord server. :)

Is it possible for you to add Grom's 3rd starting location, where he starts in the badlands south of Karak Eight Peaks? It usually happens when you play Eltharion and no one is playing grom.

@Nukular Power Oh definitely, check out my mod collection's description to see what I have planned next. I started making these to make my own campaigns more immersive, so there is definitely a lot more to come. :)

If you haven't already, consider following me on some of my social media to catch up with new releases and updates.

Thank you for the kind words!

Thanks for this :) Hope to see more of these

@endtimesmate Their feud in Total War: Warhammer II takes place after Grom's first invasion of Ulthuan, so Eltharion is already the Prince of Yvresse and the Warden of Tor Yvresse. He was already in the Badlands as well. This is just a rematch :)

@GoatScream I plan to make one moving Skrag to the Mountains of Mourn. Other than that, I plan to introduce custom start position mods as rewards for financial support. If you would be interested in that, you can add me as a friend on Steam, or message me on Discord.

Thank you for the kind words!

I read, that Eltharion is the "Prince of Yvresse" and "the Grim" BEFORE he was elected ADDITIONALLY to "The Warden of Tor Yvresse" for saving Ulthuan from the Grom Invasion. Maybe that trait could be the reward for the short campaign. But then Eltharion need a new start trait with some suitable abilities. Maybe a logically split of the abilities of "The Warden of Tor Yvresse" Trait and some extra abilities.
Eltharions Ranger are "nearly invisible in the darkening twilight", maybe they can get the stalking ability?...

"Eltharion swept through the Badlands like a wind of blades", so he can get a campaign movement bonus for the long campaign.

I think it would be more loreful, when the long campaign is more focussed @ the badlands and the orcs around there. But i am not a loremaster. ;-)

[Sorry for my bad english.]

Nice mod! Could you make one for Skrag the slaughterer to start on the Dark Lands?
