Description
My attempt to balance all of the races, mostly through buffs, while still maintaining their identities.

These changes only affect the base playable races (Greenlanders, Scorchlanders, Shek, West Hive Princes/Soldiers/Workers, and Skeletons).
For changes affecting the misc playable races (P4 Units, Soldierbots, and South Hivers), check here.

I have separated these changes into individual mods, should you only want my tweaks to a certain race without affecting all of them. They can be found in this playlist.

CHANGES


Universal
  • All hit chances are the same across every race:
    • 80/80/80/80 for Left Arm, Left/Right Leg, and Head
    • 60 for Right Arm
    • 140 for Chest and Stomach
Different hit chances across the races are somewhat arbitrary and make balancing them more difficult, so I entirely universalized them.

Greenlanders
  • All body parts' HP buffed to 110 (from 100)
  • Laboring XP multiplier buffed to 1.2x (from 1.0x)
There's not much of a reason to play Greenlanders other than for Holy Nations runs or if you're just new, so I gave them a raw health buff to stand out from other races. Laboring XP buff gives them an additional use, and makes sense with their lore.

Scorchlanders
  • All body parts' HP buffed to 105 HP (from 100)
  • Heal Rate buffed to 1.15x (from 1.1x)
Scorchlanders in vanilla are mostly just slightly better Greenlanders, so I gave Greenlanders slightly more health than them to help even the two. Scorchlanders were buffed to 105 HP to bridge the gap between Greenlanders and Hive Soldier Drones. Heal Rate buffed to heal 1.2 HP per 22 minutes (slightly better than Greenlanders’ 1.1 HP per 22 minutes). I recommend using this mod to increase their spawn rates.

Shek
  • Bleed Rate buffed to 0.75x (from 0.9x)
  • Heal Rate nerfed to 0.72x (from 0.8x)
  • Strength XP multiplier buffed to 1.2x (from 1.1x)
  • Dexterity XP multiplier buffed to 0.9x (from 0.8x)
  • Melee Defense and Armor/Weapon Smithing XP multipliers buffed to 1.2x (from 1.0x)
Bleed Rate buffed to match their role and be better than Scorchlanders’. Heal Rate nerfed to heal 0.9 HP per 22 minutes (worse than Greenlanders’ 1.1 HP per 22 minutes). Strength XP buffed to match Dexterity debuff. Gave Shek a Melee Defense XP buff since they are a warrior race. Dexterity XP buffed because Shek struggle to raise it due to how Dexterity gains are coded. I gave them an Armor/Weapon Smithing XP buff so that they have an additional use as a race, and because it fits their lore well enough. Scorchlanders are still slightly better smiths due to their superior hunger rate.

Hive Princes
  • Head HP buffed to 100 (from 80)
  • Chest/Stomach/Limbs HP buffed to 95 (from 80)
  • Heal Rate buffed to 1.5x (from 1.0x)
  • Vision Range multiplier buffed to 1.1x (from 1.0x)
  • Strength XP multiplier buffed to 0.9x (from 0.8x)
  • Toughness XP multiplier nerfed to 1.0x (from 1.2x)
Buffs to help bridge the gap between Hive Princes and other races, while still ensuring that they're slightly weaker. I gave Hive Princes slightly more Head HP so that there's slightly more incentive to play them over Hive Worker Drones. Heal Rate buffed to heal 1.4 HP per 22 minutes (slightly better than Hive Soldier Drones’ 1.3 HP per 22 minutes). Vision Range multiplier is slightly increased to better fit the "scout" niche of this race. Strength XP multiplier buffed to match Dexterity XP multiplier buff that I made to the Shek. The Toughness XP bonus didn't make sense considering the fragility of Hive Princes, so I removed it.

Hive Soldier Drones
  • Heal Rate buffed to 1.3x (from 1.0x)
  • Weather Immunity buffed to include Duststorms and Gas
  • Medic XP multiplier buffed to 1.0x (from 0.8x)
  • Athletics, Melee Defense, and Polearms multipliers buffed to 1.2x (from 1.0x)
All body part HPs were originally buffed, but I quickly realized that those buffs practically made Hive Soldier Drones entirely superior to Humans due to the Soldiers' utilities. I gave Hive Soldier Drones an increased Heal Rate to better fit their utility niche, and heal 1.3 HP per 22 minutes (slightly better than Scorchlanders’ 1.2 HP per 22 minutes). Heal Rate is lower than Hive Prince/Worker so that there is incentive to also play them. A lack of immunity to Duststorms and Gas is the main glaring problem with this race, so I gave them that as well. This also adds some extra utility compared to Humans, since now they don't need to carry different headgear for different environments. Medic XP is buffed since it didn't make sense to me that soldiers would be poor medics. Athletics XP is buffed to match the other Hivers. Melee Defense XP is buffed since they are a combat race. Polearms XP is buffed since they use polearms.

Hive Worker Drones
  • Chest/Stomach/Limbs HP buffed to 95 (from 75)
  • Heal Rate buffed to 1.5x (from 1.0x)
  • Vision Range multiplier buffed to 0.9x (from 0.5x)
  • Strength XP multiplier buffed to 0.9x (from 0.8x)
  • Cooking XP multiplier buffed to 1.0x (from 0.8x)
  • Toughness and Turrets XP multipliers nerfed to 1.0x (from 1.2x)
Buffs to help bridge the gap between Hive Worker Drones and other races, while still ensuring that they're slightly weaker. Heal Rate buffed to heal 1.4 HP per 22 minutes (slightly better than Hive Soldier Drones’ 1.3 HP per 22 minutes). Vision Range buffed to bring them in line with other races, while still being a bit worse. Strength XP multiplier buffed to match Dexterity XP multiplier buff that I made to the Shek. It didn't make sense to me that a laborer race would make poor cooks, so I removed the Cooking XP penalty. Neither Toughness nor Turrets made much sense for Hive Workers, so I removed their XP buffs.

Skeletons
  • Chest/Stomach/Limbs HP nerfed to 175 (from 200)
  • Bleed Rate nerfed to 0.5x (from 0.1x)
  • Heal Rate nerfed to 1.5x (from 2.0x)
  • Crossbows and Toughness XP multipliers buffed to 1.2x (from 1.0x)
Skeletons do outperform Shek in melee combat in vanilla endgame - see the attached video (credit to FrankieWuzHere). Vanilla Skeletons overperform in general, in my opinion - they have a massive amount of health and are too hard to kill, even when they lose a fight. These nerfs mainly aim to address their combat strength, while still attempting to maintain Skeletons’ identity as a resilient race (though partially nerfing that aspect, too). Toughness XP is buffed to match the resilience of Skeletons. Crossbows XP is buffed to match the Turrets XP buff. Skeletons still outperform Shek and are still the best race, in my opinion. Use my Skeletons Neutered mod if you want them to be a bit weaker. I recommend using this mod to increase their spawn rates with these changes.

Love the mod but is there any version of it that works for Mechanical Hive ?

@Laughing_Forest from my own playing and from watching others play i think that the 200hp head is generally fine, so probably not. KOs tend to happen in the chest/stomach anyway due to hit chances. even if it were a problem, i think that it's a fine slight weakness to have for all the utility that they get in return.

Only question/comment I’d have is any thoughts on buffing the heads of Hive Soldiers as a tweak?
