Section: Halo CE Maps
Author: Sean Casey, Bryn Casey

Date: 03/25/2007

Description:
A mysterious forerunner structure surrounded by 2 large islands, believed to be one of many power plants for the systems of Halo 004.

File Notes
Hydrolysis for Halo Custom Edition features 2 new vehicles: the "Shark" 2-man boat,
with integrated machine gun mounted in front, and
the "Beetle" 1-man jet transport vehicle.

Started in the middle of 2006, temporarily abandoned for about 5 months and obsessed over all winter to be finished in March 2007. This will undoubtedly be my last Halo CE map, with Halo 2 Vista dropping mere weeks from now- I'd like to take this space to thank everybody in the Custom Edition scene, starting with Gearbox for sticking it out and making it workable, even with all the haters and flamers- thanks to Bungie of course, thanks to Kornman and Monoxide and Iron Forge and all the reverse engineers who made stuff possible, and quicker... thanks to Lightning and Neuro and Killa and everyone who helped me get past the various roadblocks in my projects- thanks to everyone who ever played in a game with me and wasn't a [deleted]...

Thanks to Dennis for the map name suggestion, thanks to CtrlAltDestroy for the H3 backpack mod & help (even though this version does not include the backpack mod- I wanted to leave it classic-ish), everyone at forums.yayap.com especially ben for the initial idea and Lloyd for typing "gears", everybody at gearbox forums- you guys are the smarterest, and of course the playtesters:

Phil
TomClancey
Capt Lag
Random
bacon
Arteen
Wave of Lag
Titusz
penguin
Seraphim
Teekup
Kornman (even though we didn't get to play)
(once again, if I forgot you, I'm sorry- I have the worst memory ever)

-and thanks to my brothers Colin, Bryn, and Darrick. You guys are pimps.

See you guys in Halo 2 vista...

-- Change Log --

Ported map using Mercury Rising and Halo MCC Revised tags.

Removed the undriveable Pelican and the (Island Hop) NewBoathog exclusive to Race (Skimmer Shadow fulfills both roles) as well as the unused Banshee.
Corrected team indexes of all vehicles, created a copy of the Shark vehicle using (Banshee) index 3 for the other 9 Sharks. Swapped Shark locations for better custom game options.

Replaced the fiesta exclusive Needler at index 3 with a Ruby Rebalanced Sentinel Beam (extended range & velocity to Halo 3 values)

Added Cloak and Overshield Powerups to the map.

Added a Mercury Rising Speargun (green MP) weapon and Doozy vehicle (uses (Ghost) index 1).
Doozy vehicle modified to have .25 rider fraction damage (2x as durable as Shark vehicle).
Changed Beetle (Jetpack) to use (Rocket Warthog) vehicle index 5.

Added a modified Mercury Rising Shadow vehicle (Skimmer variant) with a bunch of changes (increased projectile damage, different vehicle physics, different bitmaps and shaders). (Based the vehicle stats on the removed Island Hop NewBoathog exclusive to Race, increased reverse speed). (.18 rider fraction damage) (Uses (Scorpion) vehicle index 2)

Added the Lamprey sub-ED (blue Splash Site speargun), then made a lot of modifications to it. The minimum resulting explosion damage was increased by 25 and the maximum explosion damage was increased by 5. However, it does 0.6x damage to shields so it won't instant-kill on bodyshot unless shields are removed. You can use it to do explosive jumps to reach higher locations without losing any health at full shields. The rifle bullet / spear projectile itself has a lower initial velocity of 24 and final velocity of 21, but now skips shield and will always insta-kill on headshot. The spear projectile damage itself was increased but it now has multipliers to lower damage on players/cyborgs/cyborgshields. Has CMT Evolved Spiker melee.

During Race rocks and Forerunner platforms will appear allowing you to reach all checkpoints without vehicles.

Changed the Doozy and (Skimmer) Shadow passenger seat exit animations to prevent you from being forced to fall to your death.

-- To Do --
Skimmer Shadow needs a new bitmap (GIMP lowered the already low quality)
Need proper hud_msg_icon for Lamprey sub-ED
BSP holes need to be removed (issue with the original map that could be easily fixed with the source data)

---- Tag Credits ----

Sean Casey and Bryn Casey - For the awesome map and tags (note for modders; their energy sword lunge crashes tag_test but works fine in Custom Edition / MCC), important imported cyborg.model_animations

Aerocatia/Vaporeon - Halo CE - Revised (MCC) tags

Altis - Mercury Rising tagset used as a base; particularly Doozy, Lamprey/Speargun, Shadow, imported cyborg.model_animations, Digsite MP hud_msg_icons_mr.bitmap

CMT - Evolved Spiker melee animation, (modified) bladed_melee.damage_effect, Shedder melee sound tag

Digsite and Splash Site teams - countless stuff, but mainly imported cyborg.model_animations, Doozy, Lamprey/Speargun, Shadow

Fubih - Speargun weapon

Ruby's REBALANCED Team - Sentinel Beam, Needler shaders, imported cyborg.model_animations (support animations required for Sentinel Beam)

---- Tools and Script Credits ----
Aerocatia/Vaporeon, hellux, MangoFizz, SnowyMouse - Invader

con - Used their method posted on the Reclaimers Library to detect Race in scripts

Kornman00 - Halo Animation Editor

Neo Te Aika - helped with the Shark near the fuel rod gun vehicle spawning script

---- Special Thanks ----

SVA - For teaching me about Halo MCC modding and Halo Custom Edition porting

OpenCarnage users - Particularly Zatarita for their guides on porting

Neo Te Aika and xScruffyDaSasquatchx - besides being really helpful, they worked on Splash Site; the main inspiration for me to work on Halo mods

StormUndBlackbird - So many good memories of watching their mod videos, plus Altis is part of the group
