Description
The Halcyon-class light cruiser (hull classification symbol: C), referred to by the Covenant as the Human Attack Ship, Class C-II, is a cruiser-class starship developed by the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) prior to 2507, designed by Dr. Robert McLees. Initially intended for both offensive and defensive fleet roles, the class was also capable of serving in logistical functions such as troop deployment and supply transport.

Despite its intended versatility, the Halcyon-class had a relatively short frontline service life. Its unique segmented hull—while exceptionally durable—was expensive to construct and maintain. Combined with limited maneuverability, inadequate armament for its size, and overall concerns about combat effectiveness, the class was ultimately phased out in favor of more capable warships such as the Marathon-class and, later, the Autumn-class heavy cruisers.

Midway through the Human-Covenant War, several Halcyon-class cruisers were retrofitted with substantial upgrades in an effort to bolster UNSC fleet numbers. The most iconic of these is the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, which was rebuilt from an early Halcyon hull and featured advanced internal honeycomb bracing that greatly improved survivability in battle.

This ship is by far one of my favorite designs. The Flight I variant was frustrating though—it only had a few missile pods and no point-defense systems. With a frigate-grade MAC, it doesn’t hit hard at all. The original version I built had about 70 missile pods and hit about as hard as a Marathon-class, just without the sustained autocannon fire.

All that being said, I hope you enjoy this disappointment of a ship—and more will be on the way soon.
