I've got a fix for it now, sorry was away this past week and didn't have access to my PC! But I do have very lovely pictures of waterfalls that will probably end up in the gallery lmao. I'll push an update in just a bit!

Waking up in a strange place, slowly unravel the bizarre and tangled web of indoor spaces in this exploration and navmesh-focused map

gm_indoorspaces is my attempt to stuff the source engine full of rooms and some fun little map logic experiments. This third WIP build has some fairly significant changes from the previous, including:

  • Slightly functional gallery NPC logic (still very much in testing and not ready, but you can at least hear the voicelines now!)
  • New areas and connections
  • Inclusion of light story elements and story progression revealing new areas
  • Fun posters for the cinema/theater area based on some of my fave maps
  • Significant detailing and polish across the map
  • Fully functional dance floor and DJ booth
  • Something flooded
  • Multiple spawns in the starting room for multiplayer (MP might be buggy!!! Proceed with caution)
  • New background tunes for the mood music system

This is getting pretty damn close to being finished now I think, I'm going to be away from the PC for a fair bit of this week so no more progress till I'm back. The NPC logic for the gallery needs to be finished and tested, and several of the various scattered pages need to be placed a little more intelligently.

Here's a general feature list:
  • Large, interconnected map with lots of places to see and several new areas and connections to find as you progress through the map
  • Map-logic-based mood music bgm system that tracks how many upper or downer areas you've been to and adjusts the music playlist accordingly
  • Yeah there's another gallery, but this time it's kinda cool!
  • Secret ending!
  • Loops
  • No seamless teleports, all geometry is contiguous
  • Fun easter eggs and secrets!
  • Scary and oppressive vibes paired with cozy and comfy
  • myhouse(s)
  • CONCRETE
  • My very soul entrapped in an NPC (custom voicelines lmao)
  • loops SPIRALS
  • Dance floor and some chunes
  • Flooding
  • Somewhat moderate existential dread

By the way, the pages are more or less hints for where to go to unlock new shortcuts or new areas, reading the page by hitting use will change the environment in tandem with what the page says, where applicable.

I can't think of much else, and it's almost 2am so I'm going to bed lmao

Okay, I've just about got it finished! Got to do some testing and there's a couple things I want to add last minute, but by the end of the week I think I should have the final release up! I'll post in the WIP builds with a link when I do. Thanks again everyone!

@SmiggleLord ahaha, that's a little reference to a chapter in Alan wake 2, it's called herald of darkness (champion of light) by the old gods of Asgard, a fictional band played by the real band poets of the fall. Great guys, absolute bangers from them
