Eternal War: Rome

Description
Ready for the ultimate challenge as Rome?

This mod transforms the Grand Campaign of Total War: Rome II into a brutal survival scenario tailored for experienced players. You’ll command the Roman Republic—but that’s it. All other factions are disabled, and every one of them is your enemy from Turn 1. Diplomacy is dead. War is total.

Key Features:
  • Rome is the only playable faction – all other factions have been locked.
  • War with the world – Rome begins at war with every faction. Peace treaties are entirely disabled.
  • Custom startpos – Rome starts stronger: expanded territory, more armies, and extra resources—but at a cost. You're surrounded.
  • Mission overhaul – all vanilla mission chains removed and replaced with a brand-new, Rome-exclusive set of missions tailored to this scenario.
  • New building chains – custom-designed buildings and garrisons exclusive to Rome, with full UI and encyclopedia support.
  • Economic tweaks – rebalanced building and tech bonuses: less trade cheese, more strategic depth.
  • Harder AI – the AI prioritizes military development, refuses diplomacy, and fights to the last.
  • Difficulty scaling – reworked difficulty effects; on Legendary, the AI pulls no punches.

This is not a sandbox. This is survival.
Test your tactical skill and strategic endurance in a brutal, focused campaign where Rome stands alone. Will you rise above the chaos—or be crushed under the weight of history?

Yes, it will work with other mods enabled.

It is compatible with mods that don't change your starting positions; for everything else - just set this mod's priority on the top amd you should be good to go.

I know its an independent mod, but will it work with other mods enabled? Or do all other mods have to be disabled?

Thanks a lot, @DanusTheManus! Really happy to hear you're enjoying it — that means a lot! :spiffo:

I just want to say I am really enjoying this mod and its challenges.

No, it's an independent mod. In order for it to work, you'd have to start a new campaign, and, well, the mod has to be turned on in the game's launcher.

does this need any other mods subscribed for this to work

I'm currently in, it does bring enjoyable Attila vibes. Althought the AI is still dogshit (even tough you seem to have greatly improved it, some tendencies to blob seem hardcoded) in battles (and the fact that I usually do not like vanilla) , it's very fun to grind down waves of ennemies and the experiene is challenging.

I really like your mod here, it'll do a very fun campaign (hopefully, the late game AI empire will continue to pose a threat until the official win of the campaign).

Good luck :o. My recommendation - build Garrisons on the frontlines, and you should be fine :spiffo:, and don't be in a hurry to conquer everything, - overstretching isn't a good thing!
