Calculated Destruction

Description
CALCULATED DECONSTRUCTION
Tired of spending way too long grinding down raid spoils one block at a time? This mod is for you!

Calculated Deconstruction lets you break down entire grids — and their sub-grids — virtually, storing all components safely for later retrieval.

FEATURES
  • Efficient Grid Deconstruction: Works just like a grinder, but faster and smarter. Respects the world speed modifier, and features an optional speed upgrade to trade power for speed.
  • Virtual Component Storage: No inventory management stress — components (including grid inventories) are stored virtually until you're ready to withdraw them.
  • Progression System Friendly: Fully integrated with the vanilla progression system.
  • LCD Support: Switched to a "Collector" block backend to enable built-in model LCDs — no gameplay impact, just a visual upgrade!
  • Fix LCD Mod Compatible: For LCDs on the deconstructor block to function properly, the Fix LCD Mod is recommended.

HOW TO USE
  1. Place the block.
  2. Turn it on (it defaults to off to conserve power).
  3. Scroll down in the terminal to view nearby grids within 500m.
  4. Select the grid you want to deconstruct.
  5. Optional: Adjust efficiency to change grind speed (and power usage).
  6. Press Select!

A timer will begin, and when it completes, you'll receive the grid's components.
To enable LCD text display areas on the block, the Fix LCD Mod must be installed.

No room in your cargo? No worries — items stay virtually stored until you make space.

DECONSTRUCTION RULES
For balanced gameplay, the following rules apply:
  • Neutral grids (no ownership) can be deconstructed.
  • Faction-shared grids are eligible.
  • If you own key blocks (Cockpits, Medbays, Turrets, Warheads), the grid is valid.
  • If no major blocks are found, you must own the majority of the grid.

@Mrcalzon02 I just tested both with and without the optional dependency and it was working fine for me.

However, I did find a bug in the icon not showing up... unfort that is not something I made/did so @Orixus will have to look into that one.

it should be also noted that it doesn't seem to attach to conveyor networks is that intended?
manaphoenix  [author] 4 Jul @ 3:14pm
Not quite, only certain Block Types support LCD; and the one I'm using (Collector) does not support LCD panels.

Unfort there isn't a block that has the automatic output to inventory/conveyor & has LCD support.
@manaphoenix
do i understand it correctly that the lcd fix mod is only needed for getting the lcd panel going due to having more than just one lcd panel on it?

if that is the case changing one of them to for example a powerbox might be something that would still give some visual stuff for it and gets the lcd working wihtout that one.
just a suggestion, what you do with it is up to you.
something i noticed while doing the first and now the second test is that there is no symbol for it in neither the g-menu nor the toolbar.

anyone else experiencing that?
@manaphoenix
not neccessarily more sense but it would allow for people to choose if its not a neccessary requirement but just there to solve some hicky stuff or is one of multiple possible mods that can be used as alternate for each other for the mod itself to work.

sadly there is no way to put stuff into a mods requirementlist and mark it as soft or hard dependency and everything inside the dependency list if laoded automatically once you load the mod into a world.
manaphoenix  [author] 4 Jul @ 12:21pm
if it'll make more sense that way i'll change it!
@manaphoenix
yeah as long as you have it in the mods dependency list its a hard dependency.
soft dependenvys is something you list inside the moddescription.
manaphoenix  [author] 4 Jul @ 12:14pm
If this is not the case, Please let me know. the LCD screens are only meant to be a soft dependency.

Without the Fix LCD Mod , the LCD screens on the block will not function .

That should be the only thing that breaks — as far as I know, the block itself will still work normally.
It's just the LCD display areas that won’t function without the mod.
