Smooth Terrain

Description
Smoothens naturally generated terrain using diagonals.

The Better Mountains mod showed me how much better RimWorld can look without its blocky visuals. But it also made the rest of the world, especially terrain and coastlines, look even more blocky by comparison.

Because of this, I started using NANAME Floors + a buildable terrain mod to manually smooth out entire maps, but this took ages per map, which is why I made this mod: to automate that process and enhance the natural terrain generation for a more organic-looking world.

Features:
Uses NANAME Floors' diagonal floors to generate a smoothened terrain.

Notes:
On booting up the game, this mod will pre-load tons of "blended terrains" in all orientations & combinations as set in the settings; however, this only includes vanilla terrains by default.

You can manually add new "terrain blend pairs" for any terrains you wish would smooth together - or if you don't want to do all that - turn on the experimental automatic toggle, to make it automatically support any modded natural terrain at risk of ruining performance.

Existing saves:
Terrain smoothing (by default) happens on map creation, but can also be performed on existing saves by pressing the "Smooth current map" button in the mod's settings.

To uninstall this mod from an existing save, press the "Un-smooth current map" button in the mod's settings, save the map, reload the map without the mod, then a single error spam will happen upon opening, and then it seems to be fine.

Note:
For these types of overhaul mods it's impossible to predict all edge cases, but it's been stable for me with over 500 active mods. Let me know if there's any generation-based issues, and if you have issues related to the tiles themselves, comment on the NANAME Floors mod.

Recommendations:
Because people often ask what graphics mods I use:

The more graphics mods you install, the more the little things start to bother you lol

Yeah it defo has nothing to do with this mod, but I agree, rimworld's shadow system is awful
Divines 3 Aug @ 7:58pm
i mean that shadows of none the like more roundish blocks like mountains, have the sharp corners shadow of walls.

also that the shadow isnt completly connected to the block, just noticed that the textures arent even connected properly on the mountains

tho nothing of it really has anything to do with this mod ngl

maybe ill find some other mods for that or gave you an idea for perhaps your next mod ^^

never shouldve looked so close at the game xD

Yeah that's a good idea for a button I guess, I'll write it down on the ideas list

Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to improve the automatic pair generation? I was thinking something along the lines of a button to automatically add all terrain pairs from the current map to the list.
Right now I'm playing on a Scarlands map and the default manual list doesn't seem to work with any of the toxic water or ancient megastructure.

Anybody know if this works on 1.4? I also run over 500 mods and alot need manual update which is why i'm stuck with that version. 😑
