i'm pretty sure the performance impact is none at all if not at least negligible, each fish is like a few kilobytes in space so I don't think it takes away a lot of resources to render them in?
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of AI generated imagery, but I can't really complain when it's a free mod. A lot of people here taking issue with it are probably unaware that the Barotrauma devs themselves also used AI image generation, particularly for menu and loading screen backgrounds, and nobody really complained about it then. These were placeholders of course, and most of them have been replaced in the "Calm Before the Storm" update. You seem committed to replacing the current sprites in your mod eventually, so I think people should be willing to afford the same charitability.
Also nice to see some of the cut creatures restored. I never quite understood why they removed them in the first place. They don't conflict with the current art style, and some of these have been in the game for years.
