@Krea it's surprisingly client-side (I played with it on random non-modded servers and was surprised at still seeing them swim around)
i'm pretty sure the performance impact is none at all if not at least negligible, each fish is like a few kilobytes in space so I don't think it takes away a lot of resources to render them in?

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of AI generated imagery, but I can't really complain when it's a free mod. A lot of people here taking issue with it are probably unaware that the Barotrauma devs themselves also used AI image generation, particularly for menu and loading screen backgrounds, and nobody really complained about it then. These were placeholders of course, and most of them have been replaced in the "Calm Before the Storm" update. You seem committed to replacing the current sprites in your mod eventually, so I think people should be willing to afford the same charitability.

Also nice to see some of the cut creatures restored. I never quite understood why they removed them in the first place. They don't conflict with the current art style, and some of these have been in the game for years.

@Tem黄 Lore-wise, some of them if not most should be edible, in fact some fish are rarer because of fishing

@Karkino there might be in the future but not really sure, since they'd probably be walking along the walls and the BackgroundCreatures.xml doesn't really support stuff like that

Snailfish as in one of the background fish from legacy, it had a shell kinda like a snail. I got the name from BTE, my bad

@bit* is there a snailfish, no, but i read more about the snailfish and came across an article talking about it "breaking the record for living at the deepest ocean depths known to humanity", so I'm thinking of adding it in the future with it being a Great Sea fish, although ofc it's gonna be a lil bit different, maybe having more than 2 eyes or something to differentiate it a bit

I appreciate you wearing the AI slop on your sleeve and acknowledging its not real art. I'll follow this project until it either fizzles out or an actual artist can take their interpretation of Europa's non-intractable aquatic life. I hope if and when that time comes, you don't hold them too strictly to the shapes conjured by the math equation pretending to know what a fish is.
