Simple Blinking Animation

Description
This mod adds a simple blinking animation to humanlike pawns. Does not depend on [NL] Facial Animation!

Features
  • Eyes close and open in a subtle idle loop (~4 seconds, slower than the preview image)
  • Eyes close when asleep
  • Option in Mod Settings for corpses to have eyes open or closed (default is closed)
  • Works with all vanilla and modded humanlike pawns (no blink animation on unsupported pawns, easily extensible)
  • Compatible with Biotech eye colors, EyeGenes2 textures, Glowing Eye Genes

Supports the core game, Biotech, and Anomaly. (Sorry for the low res preview gifs. Files have to be under 2mb to add to the workshop page. Looks much better in-game!)

Currently uses base-game resolutions (128x128). Working next on some higher-def textures for those who want it, although I do have real-life projects happening now, so it may be a while. Feel free to make some and I'll link them if you do!

Known Issues:
  • Portraits don't blink. Having trouble figuring that one out. Portrait eyes should close when sleeping in bed spots, though.
  • Statues have eyelids closed, figuring this one out

If there are any other issues, please let me know!

Extensible
To support new head types, add east and south eyelid textures at this file location with this naming scheme (be sure to use the HeadTypeDef):
Textures/Things/Pawn/Humanlike/Eyelids/HeadTypeDef_Closed_south.png Textures/Things/Pawn/Humanlike/Eyelids/HeadTypeDef_Closed_east.png
See the textures in the mod for examples! For the best look, be sure there are no low opacity pixels, and be sure to fully cover the eye on the head texture.

A little support goes a long way! If you’d like to help me keep creating, you can do so on Ko-fi![ko-fi.com]

@Gеяо, thanks for those pictures, very useful. I'll work on resolving those--some weird opacity things happening with the textures, probably.

also forgot to mention, that Character Editor there's some... weird artifacts showing off, also happens when the pawn sleeps to the side with yayo's animations

yeh precisely, but I know that there's other mods that add xenotypes with weird eyes and stuff

@Gеяо, good idea. I'll try to implement that.

And just to clarify, are you talking about pawns with face extensions (like the Mind Devourer), non-human heads (like Drakonori), or eye textures (like Efreet)? I just want to be sure things are working as intended!

Hello! I wanted to suggest some options for this mod, like not having blinking animations for certain xenotypes, I play with xenotypes from Alpha Genes and some of those lack normal eyes, and they look... funny when the animation is active

So if you could add an option to exclude xenotypes for these animations it would be great!

SIMPLE and CLEAN, thanks for your work!

@RedstoneRevolution, yes, works just fine

@(≡◉‿‿◉≡), i haven't tested it yet, but I don't see why not. they're very different systems. as long as you have the eyelid textures for a head type and completely disable facial animation for the pawn (like with Big & Small genes), it should be fine

Is this compatible with Yayo's Animation?

wait. my bad. this just adds blinking textures. no head textures. :captainclown:

really simple and cute. is there a way to have an upscaled version of this? :captainsmooth::LostTechnology_Confusion:
