[B42] Dead Load Trait

Description

💀 Dead Load Trait
Cost: 5 Trait Points

Description:
Dragging bodies became routine and made you stronger. Gear feels lighter and no longer slows you down.

The Dead Load trait can be earned through gameplay by dragging zombies a total of 1500 tiles.

Effect:
🟢 Worn items weigh 25% less

What This Mod Does:
This mod introduces a custom trait called Dead Load. When a character has this trait, any clothing or gear worn on the body (vests, jackets, armor, helmets, boots, gloves, and more) will have its weight reduced by 25%.

For example, an item that normally weighs 2.4 units will only weigh 1.8 units when worn.
This only affects items that are equipped or worn, not items carried in your inventory or containers.

I created this mod because heavy armor in the game weighed too much and quickly filled up the 20 kg limit. With this trait, you can wear heavier protective gear without being weighed down as much.
(This also applies to modded items.)

@Itu_utn, Idk, I don't have that trait, but if it does something similar to mine, then mine will override that one if you get it later in-game I think. You'll have to try and see

does it work with well-fitted trait? or gets over written since previous one gives 50%?

@Primedew, I actually thought about making the .lua script read that there's a corpse in your inventory and then track how many tiles you move with it. But… none of my mods are for B41, if you’ve noticed, and that’s because I’m already fully into B42. I won’t be going back to B41. And you know, constantly having to change versions is tedious... :deadrat:

oooh ..damn...didn't know that to be honest....so it works by using grapple mechanic in b42... is there no possibility for b41 at all? like detecting tiles traversed while having corpse in inventory or something?

@loccatpowersdog, I tried making the sandbox setting for the three options: weight reduction, trait cost, and dragged tiles... But sadly, I couldn’t make it work:deadrat:. Maybe I’ll figure it out later. For now, trust me that 1,500 tiles is fair. It took me two in-game days to earn the trait by cleaning my base of hundreds of zombies. And since I’m using my mod to drag bodies 80% faster, I think it’ll take around three days, or five at most, to get that trait in-game. So, I believe it’s fair I tested it myself:spiffo:
@JosephTheAmazing, Yes man, actually that was the main reason for my mod. If you look at the mod preview, you'll see the military bulletproof vest, which is heavy to wear but looks so good. I wanted to find a way to justify it while also keeping it in line with my other mod of dragging zombies. Logically, if you carry too much weight, eventually you get used to it, and I wanted to make it make sense. That's how it all came together

Also thanks for making this mod, I always wished there was a way to make heavier gear like firemen clothes and the new armor lighter so I could hold more loot.

Oh wow what a pairing with the drag speed mod, love companion ideas like this especially from the same author!

Feels similar to the mods that can let you earn Desensitized or Brave via a min/max kill window in Sandbox Options. Curious if the threshold (it says 1500 dragged tiles) for "earning" the trait is or could be a sandbox option?

Slightly unrelated but between this mod Trait & choosing XP/endurance drain with the boosted speeds it takes a nice feature to awesome gameplay & RP potential! Does the weight related stats of Grapple Effectiveness play in at all, stack alongside?

@JosephTheAmazing, Yes, safe to add mid game :spiffo:
