Perspective: Doors (continued)

Description
Update of Owlchemist's mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2567126933

A mini-mod which simply retextures east-west facing doors to fit the perspective better. Inspired by Clutter Doors.

Updated Jul 24th, 2025: Added support for auto-sorting, as this was not automatically loading after the mods it was supposed to override; also added some simple auto-door compatibility with VTE - Variations

Updated Jul 23rd, 2025: Added explicit support for 1.5 and 1.6; Owlchemist's version worked for both, but did not have support for Sam_'s Basic Double Doors, which I also added.

Compatibility with door-related mods
These textures for modded doors are only loaded into memory if you have the relevant mods.
  • Astra Militarum Imperial Guard
  • Dubs Bad Hygiene + Lite
  • Early Times
  • Edo Themed Expansion
  • Erin's Japanese Furniture
  • Fortifications - Neolithic
  • Glass+Lights
  • GloomyFurniture
  • Linkable Doors
  • Medieval Overhaul
  • Save our Ship 2
  • Reinforced Doors
  • Rim-Effect
  • [RF] Concrete (Continued)
  • Uncle Boris' - Used Furniture
  • Vanilla Textures Expanded - Variations
  • Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ancients
  • Vanilla Factions Expanded - Settlers
  • Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Architect
  • Velcroboy's Japanese Revival
  • NEW! Sam_'s Basic Double Doors

Partial support:
  • Expanded Doors (Slide-up remote doors work differently and are not supported)

Incompatibility

ReBuild has been reported as incompatible, which makes sense since it includes this mod's functionality; most likely whichever mod is loaded later will "win", since all this does is simple texture replacement.

The same is likely true of any other mod that replaces or adds door textures, with the most likely case being that some doors will not display the east-facing perspectives unless explicit support has been added, which I can try to do on request.

Standard Caveat
If Owlchemist updates their mod, or requests removal of this one, I will delist this mod.

@InjectableBacon: Pictures have been added! I don't have a bunch of fancy doors to show it off, but here you are.
Darius Wolfe  [author] 31 Jul @ 6:01pm
Haha, yeah I probably should. I'll take some of my own, and add them tonight.

Could you add pictures? Kind of hard to tell what exactly your mod looks like, lol.

i see, thanks for the info

RimSort is open source, the Database for community rules is actively updated albeit a little bit behind. It has all the functionality RimPy had.

Besides that it has a way better sorting rule manager, optimising textures actually works and doesn't break your game, it has additionally support for "Use This Instead" and "No Version Warning" fort sorting and warning/error handling.

The only downside, you have to go into the settings and enable to download the databases, since by default only about.xml sorting is working.

File -> Settings -> Databases -> Change to Github and then Download. Same for Additional Databases.
Also under Advanced -> Update databases on startup (if that isn't enabled)

I'm not @Dragonissa, but I can elaborate... Rimpy hasn't been updated for almost 3 years, and the associated Database mod hasn't been updated for over 2, limiting its utility as a sorting app; it can, and does, still attempt to respect xml settings to sort some mods after other mods, but doesn't account for more detailed issues, meaning leaning on it as a sorting tool can be problematic.

That said, it's still fully functional, and does more things than just loading and sorting mods. Some of those are a little wonky at times, and there's no reason to expect any issues to be addressed after so long. I use it myself, and have had fairly few issues.

RimSort is another mod manager that was updated as of yesterday. I cannot speak for it myself, but it's not a bad assumption that recent updates are more likely to mean a better tool; at the very least, any issues it has are much more likely to be addressed if it's still in active development.

@Dragonissa elaborate please?

@Vanyor Rimpy is dead. Use RimSort

@=>PR<= XxDEMONIKSxX: May not have existed when this was last maintained. I can take a look, but no promises if the doors are fancy; I'm not an artist, so best I can do is adapt existing assets.

@тетеря, блин: This mod does one thing, rather than all the things ReBuild does. If you want all of those features, absolutely use that one instead of this; the people who make that mod are 100% more talented at modding than I am. Right now, this mod only works with the mods listed above; I can probably expand it to handle other door mods so long as they're not overly fancy.

@Vanyor: Can you toss me your error logs? As of the latest update, this mod tells sorters to load after the above listed door mods, so I imagine a dependency loop would only happen if one of the mods you've got listed tries to load after this one (I used the same package name to keep Owlchemist's original credit, and to hopefully minimize compatibility issues)
Vanyor 27 Jul @ 1:25pm
Hello, thank you for the mod.

[1.5] When sorting with Rimpy, it's giving a dependency loop error when using some mods:
Medieval Overhaul
Vanilla Expanded Textures
Vanilla Expanded Furniture (core)
Regrowth retexture
Erin Japanese furniture

I'm not sure what it's happening, if I had to guess, it seems this mod is trying to load it's own load order but it's conflicting with the load order of the other mods.

The Rebuild mod also says it's incompatible but that mod has a mod option to disable the included perspective door anyway.

In any case, thank you for the mod.
