Space Michael is Michael Jackson himself, nearly 500 years in the future. In 1999, he prevented a crisis that would've led to the Earth's destruction. In the English version, this is referred to as an alien invasion. The crisis being alluded to is actually referring to the events of the game Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

During Space Channel 5, Space Michael works as a reporter for Channel 5 under an exclusivity contract. He reports for the show "Star News Station" but also host a variety of other shows for Channel 5. In the sequel, he becomes the new chief of the broadcasting station.
