Description
From the creator of The Last Neanderthal and Haiku of the Ronin, play as Rennyo in a spiritual journey of liberation set during the Sengoku Jidai period of Japanese history.

Story Excerpt
His feet did not hurt.

Callused and hardened like the pinkish-brown bark of the Senkaki maple and sheltered in the skeletal husks of weathered sandals, they had carried Rennyo on his seventy-three year journey to the Pure Land; his feet softly writing impermanent kanji on the dusty mountain paths beside the patterned knobs of his walking stick. The words written by his feet were the same as those repeated with whispered conviction: the Nembutsu, the Mindfulness of the Buddha. "Namu Amida Butsu", homage to Immeasurable Light.

His feet did not hurt.

They did not know the turmoil that had afflicted the islands. They did not hear the cries of battle between servant and master echo through the pine needles in the mountain passes. They did not hear the death rattles of the Emperor's authority with each crashing wave against the rock-strewn beaches. They did not hear the whispered death poems of dying samurai in the shadows of the quiet bamboo groves beneath the silver moon. Such was Nippon in this strange age of division, of Gekokujo, the low becoming high; of Sengoku, warring states.

His feet did not hurt.

He stood before the remnants of an ancient shrine below the long mountain pass. Here. Here, he would rebuild his temple, ravaged years ago by the Tendai warrior monks of Mount Hiei. Here, he would defend the wronged people, their lives torn asunder by the wars gripping the country. Here would be the beacon illuminating the islands with the Immeasurable Light of Amidu Butsu.

His feet did not hurt.

It is a really interesting and challenging scenario, but i think there is some broken scripts.
I hope it gets fixed, because is really nice variation in gameplay.

How are you *supposed* to get the turtle ship? If I go neutral with the Japanese Villagers and convert it, it doesn't cross off the objective.

Fun, but seems unwinnable. Got all 5 relics, but didn't satisfy the objective. Converted or destroyed all pirate docks and archery ranges, didn't satisfy the objective. Built a wonder, nothing. Not even a counter. Finally, I literally destroyed all enemy civs and still didn't win.

Man this is a super fascinating map and also seems broken as all hell. The triggers are probably pretty complicated granted, but there's lots of weird stuff like an objective to destroy one more Pirate archery range than actually exists, neither the conversion of the monks nor, subsequently, every building of theirs being destroyed and their resignation gave me the turtle ship, building the wonder didn't take it off my list, I basically did everything I could bar killing the two hero samurai and wiping out the last bit of that asakura enclave across the river (all without killing anyone!) before I just gave up.

It's a pretty fun campaign. At first I had to get used to the mechanics when and where i could convert vills safely and the fact that I could not produce my own vills. But after I understood it, it was quite fun and took me actually almost 3 hours in total.

I tried to do a no-kill route and had to restart several times but when they all started attacking it was to much for a noob like me :P.

Anyway a great experience.

Remeniscnet of Rise of Khmer as your best work for sure! It has everything!

tried playing this, everytime i tried to convert a villager, every soldier of that faction would come for my monk, EVERY SOLDIER! I confirmed it by marco polo and saw them all converge as soon as i started the conversion.

interesting game style, but on hard its only griefing, play it long time ago, win it. but only with grief play without fun. try it one more time and see: thumbs down. the author is in my opinion a griefer ;)

the change in trigger comes from the scenario being a bit silly when you havent actually started building anything and it says the crops draw the locust lol when you dont atually have much of anything, only coverted guys to get them out the way and then deleting them
