PFS - F - Dragonfly Fighter

Description
Update 4/8/15 - hooked the cockpit up to the conveyor system for oxygen supply. since i cannot place a generator or tank within the fighter without extensive redesign, you will have to resort to placing oxygen bottles in the storage containers for your oxygen.

Mass: 41,936 kg
Acceleration: 10.41 m/s^2 (applies to both forward and side thrust)
Weapons: 6 Autocannons
Storage: 43 Small Containers
Connectors: 1

The Dragonfly was developed to be a side strafing fighter, allowing a kind of dogfighting tactic that differs from the typical forward + manueverability focus that is common in atmospheric fighters. It therefore has equal acceleration in both forward and on the sides. Its relatively heavy armament of 6 autocannons help it to chew apart enemy fighters, as well as do some damage to larger targets.

*Note: I have added a switch to turn the front autocannons (the two closest to the cockpit) on and off. If you are strafing sideways over 68 m/s, you will need to turn them off to avoid damage. The other 4 can remain on, and I have not found any other self-inflicted damage performing any other maneuver.

Mods Used --------------------------------------------------------------

Armor Thrusters
Armor Ramps
Azimuth Cockpit
CSD Autocannon
Industrial Thrusters
Maglock Surface Docking Clamps

Some have asked about donations. Obviously you needn't feel obliged, but anything is greatly appreciated and you have my thanks!

thanks for letting me know. sadly this is a side effect of using mods and one of the main reasons why i stopped bothering with them.

i have phased out this fighter and all the others of its series to my vintage collection, as it is too much trouble to maintain modded creations. when i have some time, i'll work on replacements.

Hey there, I love these ships! The home fleet paintjob is great.
I remain with a question though: Are there different uploads of the Sage thruster? In my version, I have a small one, but it is like 6 or 7 blocks long, yours look somehow smaller...

Beautiful design, gonna borrow it for a little project of mine, hope you like the home I'm giving it :)

Dark lord would like to say that the idea of "Phoenix flight systems" is personally a great idea as it makes the game feel immersive with the feeling that there are organizations that are out there making ship with different varieties of ship classes with a back story and specs etc. In my opinion i think you should use more aesthetic mods to help make the ships look more attractive and interesting (which they are anyways imo). Keep up the good work.

just tested it again and got shot out the cockpit. that is very strange that you don't have the same issue...only thing i can guess is maybe it's one of the many mods you say you have

Negative, no damage ! I pasted your ship as blueprint into my world which contains lotsa mods.
thruster damage and destructable blocks are on. Accelerated to full speed the sides then turning violently, always firing => no damage. Yawing at max. rotation speed while firing => no damage.
Obviously something is different in your world and mine. It's not the Dragonfly.
