Upon hearing about the release of the Duchessa class drone cruiser, a hardened and dangerous group of pirates hijacked one of the freshly built models. The Duchessa went missing for several months, and was secretly rebuilt into the Tyranno. A pirate assault mothership, it boasts heavier armor, insane broadside capabilities, a more protected drone bay, and plenty of anti-missile and anti-fighter defenses, supported by broadside missile turrets. Despite the heavier armor, it still moves fast enough to be a dangerous threat to any lightly armed miner outpost or freighter.

The Tyranno's emergence into the populance began with the assault on the light freighter "Jebidiah" just out of range of the Xerious Astroid Mining Outpost. Xerious command attempted to repel the Tyranno with their drones, and was assaulted as retribution for their attempt. The incident well known as the Xerious Massacre ended with well over 350 dead, leaving 2 survivors on the Jebidiah. The incident put immense pressure from the terrified civilians on the military.

Several months later, the military caught up with the Tyranno in a trap, and the battle of New Degorro ended with the fleets heavier units unable to catch up to the Tyranno, and the total destruction of 4 corvettes, 6 fighters, 2 frigates, and heavy damage to the one lightly armored cruiser that managed to pace the Tyranno.

Now one of the most infamous and feared ships in space, miners fear the thought of the prominent 10 gun silhouette materializing out of the sun. Rumor has it, the military has hired Stone Cold Jane Austen, the brilliant creator of the original Duchessa to built a fast assault frigate capable of overhauling, and destroying the Tyranno.
